Hello, I just purchased a brand-new M11x this weekend. For some odd reason, it frequently reboots on its own, not even giving me a chance to close programs or save. FYI this seemed to start happening after I installed Open Office. Please advise.

The first day I had mine it did that a few times because it was updating and stuff. It would shut down and reboot because the updates were behind what I was doing. It's not doing it anymore... Hope it stops for you as well.

It isn't running any updates. It's freezing up, and then seconds later, it completely reboots. I cannot seem to trace it to any particular action that I do.

If you bought it at Best Buy, just exchange it, If you got it through Dell, call Tech support, one day old, you should notneed to trouble shoot.

Hours and hours of tech support later, followed by a wireless card change and a computer exchange, has done absolutely nothing. The problem still exists.

I have been able to determine that spontaneous rebooting only occurs when there is a wireless connection. If it's a landline connection, the computer runs flawlessly.

Call Alienware, or whatever retail store you purchased the laptop from. It is important to call, just so that you can document that you are having problems.

And anytime you speak with any company's customer support, be sure to keep a record for yourself of when you called, the name(s) of the representative(s) that helped you, and notes on the conversation.
