Hi... I know there is a seperate m11x troubleshoot thread but no one is replying over there...i would really appreciate it if some one could help me.

can some one please confirm if the screen completely closes or not. after i put the flap down i can still press it shut further but it sort of bounces back to leave a gap.... u can actually see the illuminated keyboard from the side and front....im guessing the keys are touching the screen (maybe; im not sure)...am i the only one with this problem?? pics are below

Your gap seems slightly larger than mine and at a small angle. Mine is perfectly perpendicular to the keyboard. I also can't see the illuminated keyboard at all.

Can you post pictures of your hinges with the LCD opened?

Your gap is slightly bigger than mine. My hinges feel like they're about to break. I get a slight gap towards the back when I close mine as well. When I push on it, the hinge shifts and it stays put. I think the plastic screen can't keep up with the force from the metal base. Bleh. Poor hinges...

thanks everyone for the replies... i will be posting the pics of the hinges in a few days... i called alienware and they said that its normal for the keys to touch the screen so then i asked will i have to pay for any screen damages after my warranty expires and the agent said "YES"

I was like ? this is a manufacturing defect... i have never seen a laptop where the keys touch the screen.... so I talked with another agent and he said that it should not touch the screen since there are 2 rubber things on either side right below the keyboard, which keeps the screen from touching the keys.

Their solution? remove the keyboard and see if the gap is that wide... dont know y i need to do that...but ill do it anyways... ill update you all if u wish

The keyboard doesn't really touch the screen when you close the LCD, assuming the system is sitting on a table or something like that. If you apply any pressure to the top of the system or put in a backback with other items, it is highly likely that the LCD will flex and have some contact with the keyboard (picking up finger grease). This will not damage the LCD and you can easily clean off any marks on the screen. This is normal and happens on every laptop I've ever used in my life, especially on edge to edge seamless displays.

Because we don't have active latches on the M11x, your screen may not be perfectly flush with the palmrest. This is to be expected for a system without latches. It's hard to tell from your photos, but your system is likely within spec. If it gets any worse, I'd probably call support and discuss with them.

    Thanks,

thanks for the response... i did a pretty easy test to see if the keys touch the screen or not... took a cloth with some lcd cleaning solution and wiped the entire screen.... while the solution was still wet on the screen i closed the flap...and then opened it again... u could clearly see the shapes of the keys on the screen formed by the solution.... i did not apply any pressure at all after closing the flap... i just let it close... and then opened it immediately....

i removed the keyboard and put it back in like alienware told me to do ... but still no luck... ill give them a call again and keep posting
