I haven't been using my m11x too much for gaming, but recently, I noticed that the graphics card is actually missing in the device manager.

Would installing ubuntu via wubi have something to do with this? I know linux has problems with the optimus.

I suspect the blue screen's I've been getting is related:

Is this a known problem? I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia website and it won't install because it doesn't detect the card. If all else fails, is there an automatic way of reformatting the computer to factory settings like the thinkpads have?

    Thanks so much :)

Alienware respawn should do the trick fella :D That will set it back to factory settings.

Restore your Alienware computer factory software using Alien Respawn or Dell Datasafe local

It's also possible your video card as died, had similar issues with an R1 ended up replacing the mobo. Same problem drives kept returning a message the video card did not exist. Then on occasion it would work fine.

One suggestion is to set the system to discrete, if you then get boot beeps I think you may have a dead GPU.

    This^^
If you can't see the GPU on the bios or set it to discrete, most likely it's hardware.
Test what Philby said and keep us updated.

Thanks so much :) I got into the bios (F12 on startup) and the Nvidia card showed up, but I wasn't able to scroll down to change it. So this means it's a hardware problem?

If so, what number should I call about the warranty? I bought it from the outlet.

No offense, but Dell isn't the most diligent with email responses. I don't blame anyone who has ever emailed Dell about anything to think calling tech support to be faster, even if that means having to deal with ethnic call centers.

I have more than 50 email correspondences from Dell regarding a refund i -SHOULD- have received in November of last year, as of now i have still not received it (last correspondence 2 months old now, still waiting on that infamous "call back" from you guys) and every email i send re-starts the process allover again.
