Hey guys, I got this problem that's been happening for over 2 weeks now, maybe more. At random times it freezes up and the only way to get out of it is by doing the force shut down. Has anyone had this issue and gotten it fixed? It freezes up at random times while Im just surfing the web or watching videos. It did it twice today while i logged on to face book and the second time while editing a video. Here's a video i got from a few minutes ago. I uploaded it to youtube hope its okay to post a link.

Will appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

Try changing your wifi card drivers to these? Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Extract the exe and then point your device man from your wifi card to the folder with the inf and update.

It worked for some R1 users but I don't know anything about the R2 M11x

My M11x makes an identical noise occasionally, but never freezes. It is not a wifi related issue, because I recently chaned to a Killer Wireless card and it still makes this odd noise. (It did this with the stock wifi card too)

I believe it to be an overclocking/temp issue. Are you overclocked?

Thanks for the help guys. I tried checking if there was a disable "N" in the settings but didnt see one. I just installed the drivers that Jedispooner pointed me too and will see how that works.

Yeah i think the noise was the sound from the video i was editing. It froze right when i previewed. I did had it overclocked, however i tried setting t to default in the BIOS but it then said OC was disabled? Not sure if throttlestop has something to do with that though.

No, even when throttlestop was not run, it still. My M11x R2 had freezed before I installed throttlestop. Many people has this problem, but no one finds out the fix for it.
Now I'm trying to install the driver which Jedispooner provide at #2 and test if it really gets rid of that annoying problem, you could see this topic for more info

Freezes is something the M11x will have no matter what. It is a problem with the wifi drivers that never got fixed. Updating the drivers and disabling "n" mode will greatly reduce the freezes but will not remove them. I can tell you though, if your wi-fi internet randomly disconnects and/or is not listed anymore you will freeze very soon.

From what I understand from reading on it (and have experienced myself), the lockups don't have any 'reason' behind them. I've disabled the 'N', and still lock up.. At first, lock ups only happened watching videos, but then increased to random lockups when browsing. I've run every single update from Dell in hopes of resolving it, and while it's not something that happens all the time, it's veeeeeery annoying when I lose websites/images/scripting/etc. that I've been working on and haven't hit that 'Save' button within the past 10-15 minutes -- Do you realize how much Perl can be written in 10-15 minutes!?

What wifi adapters are you all using while experiencing these lock ups?

Anyone with the random freezing issue, are you running any Crucial M4 SSDs?

Old M4s have this BSOD, random lockup/reboot issue that only a firmware update will fix. Fixed my problem when it randomly hit my M18x a month ago.

I ran into this problem as well with my Crucial SSD in the M18x-R2. Firmware was really a hassle to use since it makes the system fail to recognize the boot disk at times, so I went Samsung instead lol.

I replaced my wifi card to the Intel 6300. I havent had any issues with connections or freezing since. Hope that helps.
