    Hi guys,
Being a student I want something that i can carry around with me no problems, but yet still has the power to run games at a pretty decent level and handle all my 3d design stuff. Therefore I thought the M11x would be perfect.

However the small screen, which is perfect for making notes in lectures or busting out at the cafe, may be a tad small for continued use (for me). I have a 22" (1680x1050) monitor that I'm not using and was wondering do you guys see any performance drops in both games and just normal workload when using an external monitor of a bigger size?

    Thanks for your input!

I ran 3dMark06 on the M11x screen and then from my samsung 27inch LCD it had like a 1k Difference in points from like 8500k to 7500k... just my .2

But gaming oh man... This little beast can handle it! I can play all my games into that 27inch and it can handle it. It will probably suffer a little FPS but it wont stop it from being playable and in good settings too., I can play Crysis with no problems, RIFT at High settings with no probs. and SC2 at ultra! ;) M11x R3 is very capable of delivering performance to any external monitor. ;)

^That response was indicative of an R3. The R2 won't perform as amazingly well as he said. I run mine (i7) on my Samsung 23" LCD in 1900x1080, but for most games I drop it down to 1366x768 because that's that the specs were designed for, and I'd rather have the higher settings than risk lagging on low settings at 1080p.

However, if you're going to run it on an external display, you want to get a DisplayPort to DVI adapter (not mini Display Port). For some reason when I run 1080p over HDMI it looks like crap, but 720p is fine and 1080p over DP/DVI is great. My friend has the same results with the same computer, and it never bothered me enough to get this issue resolved.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I've been able to do most everything but games flawlessly in 1080p. Youtube videos in 1080p offer some slight lag when an ad pops up, when I'm running it on integrated graphics. The Nvidia card has no trouble at all. 3D design programs should run just fine at full resolution as long as they are running Nvidia graphics, and you may want to fiddle with game settings to determine what resolution you can get away with running each game. Another reason I run them in 720p is because I don't want to deal with switching resolutions back and forth since I bring the computer to my friend's house a lot.

    Hope this helps!
