I haven't used my touchpad much, since 99% of the time I'm using a Logitech VX Nano. However, I noticed today that with my left hand resting on the machine near the touchpad, with a little pressure down, the touchpad doesn't work. If I lift up my hand slightly the touchpad works fine. Sounds like a little thing, but its gotten annoying pretty quickly. Anyone else have this problem?

try adjusting the sensitivity, and turning on that one that avoids accidental inputs from your resting palm.

Yeah try changing those settings that should fix the issue. I myself also have been having an issue with the touchpad. I recently downloaded and installed the latest drivers from dell's website before I restarted my comp. the 2 finger scrolling worked. Now it doesn't anyone have any idea why?

Changing those settings does nothing. I tried variations of those. My palm isn't on the touchpad, it's like an inch next to it. A slight pressure basically deactivates the whole touchpad. So I can be typing, then go to point or scroll and nothing.

Simple question regarding M11x touchpad: is it my impression or the buttons below the M11x's touchpad need to be pressed deeper in order to work comparing with the buttons of other touchpads?

I don't use the buttons very much. In general, I do everything through touchpad. However, when I do press the buttons, I need to press them in a slightly deeper way to work. Kind of annoying because sometimes I don't press them with the right amount of strength and so they won't work (I was used to more sensitive buttons).

Can you guys confirm this characteristic (which seems to be also noted here: " touchpad buttons have soft, springy movement with quiet clicks, though the full touchpad button press might be a little too deep for my taste") or is there something wrong with my unit?

I also have this problem... Not sure if this warrants a call to Dell, very cumbersome indeed.

I also have this issue and it is really frustrating me. I can't afford a Logitech VX, and I'd expect the touchpad to work better. It makes most games impossible to play.

I also have this problem, but havent noticed it until I saw this thread

To me its no big deal, since I dont play games using the touchpad..

Either Im typing or using the touchpad to navigate, not both at the same time.

I use my touchpad exclusively while I'm at work (roughly 6 hours a day) and I haven't ever had this happen. I absolutely think it should warrant a call to Dell.

Yes, that's just how they're designed. Most of the R1 reviews I read prior to buying the R2 mentioned it. The few drive-by tests I did on demo model R1s here in town all had the same characteristic.

Since I'm using the touchpad so much of the time I've mostly gotten used to it. All in all I'm not really a fan of the textured pad surface either. Too much drag. I much prefer the silkier feel that a lot of pads have today and nothing compares to my MBP's feel.

^I think the issue is the part that registers a click is in the corner where the two buttons meet and nearer to the touchpad than grill, and there isn't enough support over the length of the button. If you press closer to where the buttons meet, especially at that corner, it works much better than at the other edge. The lack of support across the button means the side away from where the two buttons meet bottoms out without the other side pressing the click-registering portion on the other side. If the part registering a click was in the middle of each button, it wouldn't be an issue.

I've tried to condition myself to press them nearer where they meet, but so far I haven't managed to adapt.

I have noticed that some days ago. First time I read this thread I didn't understand well what was the problem, but yep, the problem is there. It is exactly how described above. Weird, but a rather fairly small failure from factory, I suppose, nothing compared to hinge issues.

Could you guys just check something for me? I am still trying to figure out if it is a defect or not. As explained above, I need to deep press my touchpad buttons so as they work. If I perform a soft press sometimes I get false clicks, like I think that I have clicked but actually the click didn't happen, which is annoying. It is not a big big deal since I mostly use just the touchpad without touch the buttons, but when I do use the buttons, it is annoying. So, do you guys also have false clicks sometimes if not performing a deep press in the buttons? Is it a characteristic of R1 models only or also happen to R2 models? Thanks in advance.
