Hi! I recently bought a M11x R3 i5 from EBAY. When it showed up it had a bunch of issues that I fixed by updating some drivers. But what happens still is when playing some games it would go fine for about 10 minutes then get a major slow down. I thought maybe it was throttle backing so I replaced the thermal with ANTEC Formula 7 Nano Diamond. It might have help some. My current temps this second are roughly 52C on the CPU and 40C on the GPU. I was told I was pushing it to hard and it just isn't capable of the settings I am demanding out of it. This I might think of as true if it weren't that they ran fine for about 10 minutes before getting a major slow down. Also I am running the A01 Bios. Does updating the Bios change anything? I thought about doing it but I am afraid of failing the update and killing my M11x. My power adapter was also getting very hot so I stopped using it and bought a new 90W PSU off of Amazon that should arive in a few days. Meanwhile I have my Desktop and my laptop with 15% battery and 25 minutes left. Well if you can help me figure out the slow downs I would really appriciate it! :)

Might be the CPU or GPU throttling but its not getting hot enough..

As far as the BIOS goes you could try to update it. If it fails just pull the CMOS battery and do a reset.

I would wipe out the HDD after I get it from Ebay, but that's just me...

When gaming it seems to slow down once it hits 80C. I might try updating the bios later, my 65W power brick was getting REALLY HOT and would stop charging so I stopped using it and ordered a new 90W PSU and I won't use the 65W one anymore since I don't want to risk damage. Also I would wipe the HDD and reinstall Windows7 IF I had an external disc drive. Are there any other possibilities that could be causing the slow downs? Also I heard about removing the CMOS battery to fix the bios, and I also heard that you have to put the Bios in a certain format on a USB drive and plug it in and hold down the delete key. Not sure if that's exactly what you do but I heard something like that. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks! :)

First, that's a very generic question "slow down", really no tech details there. Did you run hardware diagnostics? Did you trace the processes being run? Did you look into incoming and outgoing connections? The first thing to check is the software, not the hardware.

Also, as someone mentioned, ALWAYS wipe out the HDD (AND repartioion) when buying used. Just get an external HDD, they are cheap and you WILL need one with the M11X.

The bios shouldn't change much in your situation. Also, the factory power adapter on my M3/i7 is just fine, never gets hot, even when playing Skyrim at 1920x1080 or having ProTools with a hundred inserts.
