I bought a Corsair Series 3 180gb SSD for 150 on new egg with a sale and rebate! I played with it for about 2 hours trying to install a fresh set of windows and failed lol. I ended up cloning my old HD just to do a clean install of Windows 7.

Was totally worth it, everything is stupid fast, way quieter, and loading any level in Crysis doesnt take 2 min anymore, now only 10 seconds! Computer boot is about 17 seconds, and i dont have to wait for the screen to come back on after i close the lid.

Overall, considering the deal I got, I'm rediculously satisfied.

    R3 I7 8gb Ram 2Gb 540 and now 180GB Corsair Series 3.

And thank you for all the info on this forum, everyone!

Yea, it's definitely the biggest performance mod you can do to these things. Mine boots up faster than it takes me to reach under my table and grab the cable and plug into the back of the unit.

SSD's are the way ahead :D

Fitted my old Kingston to my old HP DM1-3101ea and used the back up disk l had made and gave it to the wife :D She likes it due to the size, she has no idea about the speed

Just as long as it keeps her happy l am happy lol.

Putting the M4 into my M11x made the 500gb 7200 look stone age :D Will come in handy when l am away on my work trips allowing me to play my fav games as well as write reports

    You won't regret it.

    Regards.

Going from the stock 750GB 7200rpm hard drive to 128GB M4 SSD made my M11x R3 significantly cooler, it's worth it.

You do have the disk if you kept the cd's that came with the M11X.There should be one called Recovery Disk I think that has it (I had to use it to install my Hybrid Drive.) Something I noted though was that my laptop didn't let me install an OS from my USB.

So the only issue I've had so far in the last 3 days, is one BSOD, it happened immediately after I unplugged the charger, instant lockup then blue.

Besides that I love everything about it, battery life is about 25 min longer, and when I open the lid it is back on before i finish lifting it lol.

So the only downfalls are price and one bluescreen.

The odd blue screen is nothing to worry about it is when it becomes common or have a pattern you need to start worrying mine started to chew itself up after only 3 weeks so I gotta refund and went back to my old one but at 3 years old my SSDNow Kingston SATA II SSD still runs like a demon 0 problems or errors with over 10000 hours on and over 4000 starts these things are well worth the money.

As long as you have the latest firmware you shouldn't see another BSOD but use crystaldiskinfo to make sure everything is hunky dorey and keep an eye on how it is running. Also make sure you have the latest Intel RST drivers installed.

Comparing the boot times between my R1 and R3 the R3 boots at least 3x faster; it's sitting at the desktop before the R1 is even past the windows loading screen.
