I'm looking @ the m11x r3. Does it have any major issues I should know about? Throttling, battery, poor WoW / SC2 performance (I know the original m11x had serious issues playing WoW). Anything come to mind? Does the m11x r3 hate kittens? If it does, its a deal breaker.

Keyboard still touching screen when lid is closed showing vertical line marks, although can be wiped or use a cloth or kabuto in between, it leaves a permanent scratch mark that you don't see unless it is in well lit areas.

Very loud hairdryer fan sound when gaming or benchmarking. Very quiet though when surfing or listening to music/watching vids.

Keyboard is warped and not leveled, like the FGH keys are dipping lower than the rest and some m11x users have diff other keys that are not leveled with the rest of the keyboard.

Those are the 3 issues that stands out. The hinges when I had the r3 were solid

Certain drivers did. But I've had the R1 and R2 and they both pull 30-120 fps(depending on populated/raiding environment.) with shaders at fair. So, this shouldn't be an issue with the R3.

Completely random freezes. Load or no load.

This is not very good information - as freezing is generally software related and we have no idea what your running, etc.

REAL problems w/ the R3? To me, simply heat.

The GPU and CPU seem to need to have the thermal compound replaced basically as soon as you get it.

I don't have any of these issues aside from the loud fan kicking on while gaming. My keyboard is perfectly level - if it wasn't, that would have bugged me to no end. The keys do not touch the screen, only the little rubber pads do, which is what they are for. If the keyboard was installed incorrectly, there is a way to fix it yourself or have it fixed by Dell; it's been discussed on these forms quite a bit. I've had great temps while gaming, no crashes or freezes, not a single problem (yet). I've gotten 6.30 hrs of battery life doing non-gaming tasks. I ordered on the day of the release.

The only thing I don't like is the tiny gap at the top of the screen where it meets the lid, which is a design flaw imo. I know eventually dust is going to get under there. :-/

I don't know about kittens, but it likes my pit bull. ;)

What system with dedicated graphics since the release of WoW has ever had an issue running it? ;)

You know what i've been running since I bought my m11xr3? Google chrome and internet explorer. As I havn't had time to install any games yet. I will come back 3 hours after dinner and see that it has frozen. Or I could be browsing and it will freeze. Doubt it's software related.

Anyone worth their troubleshooting salt knows that truly random freezes usually are hardware related.

That said, I return to find my R1 hard-locked frequently for two reasons:
    Drop sensor in the HDD
    Lid sensor

Basically, I set my lid sensor to "do nothing" so that I can close it without interrupting downloads or music. I set my power button to go to sleep. If I am walking away and returning shortly while it downloads or plays music, I usually flip it over and leave it on the couch or bed so that the vents are not obstructed. The act of flipping it over sometimes triggers the drop sensor which often causes a hard-lock. If I was putting it to sleep before walking away, I would push the power button and close the lid. However, if I did not wait for it to finish entering sleep before closing the lid, it would lock HARD. I didn't catch it and discover what was happening until I found it overheated or out of battery power a few times when pulling it out of my bag (I would often put it to sleep before closing and leaving with it).

If you usually find it frozen or crashed upon returning, eliminate these possibilities before investigating further.

Not an issue as I rarely move it when it freezes, it just sits open either with a black screen or a lit screen of whatever I was doing last.
