Been searching like crazy but i haven't been able to find anyone changing their processor out by them self.

Has anyone thought about putting a Core i7-2620M in your m11x R3? its a 35w cpu but it has quite alot more power and it's compatible with the QS67 chipset, it will probably drain the battery faster but should be worth it.

Just curious if people ever thought about it or know someone who did it?

CPU is soldered to the motherboard, so not really feasible. ):

Not really the whole point of the M11x is to have the best CPU output at the lowest wattage and the ULV performs very well. The I7 version runs at 17watts and produces the same results as a 720QM quad at less than double the consumpion with only 2 cores.

I have not seen anything yet that the CPU cannot handle on my I5 even Battlefield 3 runs well when it is flat out so there is really little point having so much power in something so small and the 540M GT is the bottleneck anyway.

The Sager does not have a backlit keyboard and is rumoured to consume a lot more power than the M11x so it will not be good for battery life even with the Ivy and Kepler because a 35watt I7 and 40-50watt 650M GT running GDDR5 will be consuming a lot more + more heat requires more cooling so it will also be loud.

Well that's not really what i want, i want a better cpu and would prefer a quadcore even though it eats more battery.

Been looking at notebookcheck and i really don't like the low powered cpu's in the m11x, was hoping to upgrade to a i7-2620m but that is would be hard to do when it's soldered on.

What fps do you get in BF3 if i may ask? i know BF3 like quads and even hyperthreading. Also can you tell me what fps you get in Diablo 3?

I want all the fps i can get, i mostly play low graphic settings in all my games just to get the fps advantage.. So yeah it means a lot to me.

read a little about 650M should eat around the same as a 540M and honestly i could live with it eating 17watt more if it has a much better cpu, better graphiccard and cheaper at the same time.

Sorry I have not had the luxury of Diablo 3 yet ;) but Battlefield 3 will run at high settings and AF with AA and Blur off at 1366x768 and acheives a good 30fps which can go upto 40fps in certain areas and drop to 25 during heavy gunfire. Totally playable however on such a small laptop it is not really worth it unless you are die hard it will run nearly any game perfectly and for strategy and RPG games which is what I love maxed out easily, skyrim runs so well its scary.

These are not really meant for hardcore gaming anyway if you want that much power you want more than a netbook sized laptop you might as well look at the M14x for your needs which can house the best of the sandy bridge CPU's and has a pretty good GPU in the 555M GT.

The 650M will eat a LOT more than the 540M because they are sticking GDDR5 VRam in it which consumes near double DDR3 to produce the same results and a lot more heat in the process. The 650M is also just a lower clocked 660M.
