Took apart my M11x R2 and repasted the cpu and gpu.

Now it doesn't respond when I press the power button. When I connect the charger it doesn't show that it's charging.

If I press the battery indicator button, then the power button, the lights on the battery go off then on.

I have double checked that the IO board is properly connected.

I've taken this beast apart far too many times today...

It is no longer under warranty and I really do not feel like calling my insurance company.

Turned out the ribbon connector for the power board was frayed slightly in such a way that two of the cables were touching. Fixed by separating them with a flathead screw driver. Will possibly have to purchase a new palm rest assembly in the future.

Thanks mate, I was in a similar boat as you with my R1. I hope this is the same reason that was affecting my M11x, I will check as soon as I get home.
