    Hi all,

I just got my m11x r2 i7core 2 weeks ago. Been playing games like starcraft 2, l4d2, MW2 and frozen throne and my screen will freeze randomly. I called Dell and they asked me to restore my lappy back to factory setting, which I did. But only a day after that, while playing frozen throne my screen froze again! :( So Dell technician came down today and replaced my mobo with a refurbished one. dont know if its a good thing or not. But after the replacement, whenever I load l4d2 and starcraft 2, I can hear the game loading and running, but it gives me a black screen! All my drivers are up to date and I disabled OC-ing.

Anyone knows what's happening? Dell couldn't give me an answer, and the technician couldn't identify the problem. :( Neeeed help plsssss :(

Just get on Dell's case and keep on having them try to fix it. That's what the warranty is for.

Well I just dont like the idea of replacing parts with refurbished ones. Sigh its like paying so much for a refurbished laptop :( and the worst part is I dont trust Dell anymore. Their quality control is bad :(

My fix to black screen and still sound of the game:

1.- Run the game in 640x480 mode, sometimes is the resolution that gone wrong

2.- Uninstall the nvidia drivers, and install again, that fixed my problems

I was playing games from Steam daily, all worked fine, until one day, half my games where just a black screen, but still with sound from the game, I looked around and nothing, not in forums, dell, google, etc. Did a uninstall of the nvidia drivers, installed them again, and ALL games worked again, I use the latest official drives from the Nvidia site...

    Hope it helps

that's crap that they replaced the piece with a refurb... are they even allowed to do that? you got a NEW faulty mobo and they want to give you a refurb? i would threaten them saying either fix the problem AND replace the mobo with a NEW piece or you'll be returning the used piece of junk before the 3 weeks is up. it's hard to believe that they would replace your new laptop's mobo with a refurb. sorry, ranting :D i just think it's nasty... if you're going to get used parts, tell them that you want to pay the price for used parts and to give a reimbursement haha

did you install nvidia drivers again after the replacement? i would recommend trying another set of drivers (make sure to do a proper uninstall... probably a registry cleaner too)
