When I first got my M11x (I wasn't as smart and didn't have much computer experince) I depended on McAfee. Thinking since it was free from Alienware, might as well use it. Long story short, a virus worked its way onto the hard drive and I decided to use Avast! to find it and remove it, and it did. Then I made the worst decision ever to use the OS disc (Win7 64 bit) and run it from an external disc drive I purchased and it installed a fresh install of Windows. I did not even touch the recovery partition. I then installed all the drivers and ran Windows for a while until Internet Explorer kept "Not Responding" randomly so now knowing more, I backed up my drivers and reinstalled windows again. I installed the drivers and everything I needed to basically run it. Now after reading alot of posts I found out that the recovery partition, if not deleted, (which mine isn't) has a factory system image in it. I looked around in the partition until I found it from around when I first got the laptop.

    What i'm asking
    1. Can I use that system image to restore my laptop to factory? (I don't care about any of the data on my laptop right now. It can all be replaced easily.
    2. Can I restore it using the system image recovery option? The option accessed by pressing F8 during boot and then going to "Repair Your Computer".
    3. If not, what can I do to restore it to the "Out of the box" state?

Thank you so much for reading :D

P.S. I am new to the forum so if i'm doing something wrong please inform me :)

It is possible but for my past experiances I havent had luck doing it and i had to do resort to getting factory restore disks from other people. I might be able to help you out.

Ok. Where can I get the factory restore disks? Does it matter that I have a Solid State Hard Drive? Also how did it not work? How would you use someone else's factory restore disc? I thought your factory restore was unique to your computer?
