I purchased an M11x R2 motherboard, CPU and GPU w/ heatsinks on ebay, but i need a case bottom to go with it... I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find an R2 case bottom, or if anyone has a spare case i could either buy for cheap of get as a hand-me-down ;)

    Thanks so much!

    Anyone?

At the very least, can someone open up their R2 and tell me the part number for the R2's base? Thank you!

I looked at the case bottoms they have on their page and they both look as though they are R1 case bottoms... Ill give them a call later and ask if they have any in stock however.

    The search continues...

Was it really cheaper this way? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a brand new Alienware M11x R1 for $550? At least you get a warranty.

I thought that the port layout was different between the R1 and R2. If so an R1 wouldn't necessarily fit an R2.

Yes the port layout is different between the R1 and the R2. The bottom assemblies, touchpad assemblies and keyboard are all different between the two M11X's. The ram ratings are different and you will need a sata Hdd interposer connector for the hard drive bay. No sure what else is different but this is what I have found out.
