Yes, uninstall IE9.0. [tongue in cheek]

Closest I could get to a white screen in IE9.0 is F11 which in most applications enables full screen, however even then you get a task bar at the top of the screen.

If you downloaded IE9.0 from Microsoft and your system was stable and functional, and fully updated prior to the install, then IE 9.0 SHOULD work fine.

Anyway, if you're lucky, you may have a restore point prior to IE9.0 install.
Restore, review your system, install all Win7 updates, reboot. Then install a Microsoft sourced IE9.0.

IE9.0 works fine on my M11xR1 as well as IE10.0, so it's not a problem with the M11xR2, but the environment you're installing it into.

Out of interest, what would you say your computing experience level is?
Not being rude, just so one knows how to address the situation and better assist you.

Just that a lot of people would provide a detailed description of how they got to this situation and detailed attempts on what they've did to fix the problem prior to writing a post.

Uninstall and install either Google Chrome or Firefox.

To uninstall IE 9.0 from a Windows 7 OS you'll need to invoke the following:

run appwiz.cpl -> View Installed Updates

    or

Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> View Installed updates

    Then uninstall IE 9.0

This should take you back to IE 8.0

If you can use a previous restore point successfully then this may be a better option as there is no guaranty that an IE 9.0 uninstall well completely revert everything back to IE8.0

bad answer there is a reason for the error could be another software problem or hardware issue. what av software and antispyware software do you use. check to see what addons are running try disabling them and see if you have an addon that is causing the conflict

IE9 works fine on mine; I haven't seen this problem on my R2.

IE9 works fine for me on the R2 as well, accept for when I use GPU Acceleration on fullscreen flash videos (it crashes), so I turn it off.

Ever since reading the battery life article, I am very avid in using IE9.

IE9 is definitely more efficient when it comes to battery life than other browsers that I've come across. I also really like the fullscreen mode and the way the task bar hides when it isn't needed.

Chrome is still my favourite though, I just save it for when I'm near a power source.

Anyway, regarding the OP's question; try hitting F11, as DrGoodVibes suggested. I've come back to my computer before to find a white screen, and the first time it took a while to realise I was still in fullscreen mode.
