    Hi

When I connect my M11x to my 50" Panny Plasma it used to scale properly and display on the full screen. I've done a number of display driver updates since and possibly a BIOS update and now whenever I connect it to an any external display via the HDMI it doesn't fill the screen and I have to mess around with various horizontal and vertical scaling options.

It's driving me nuts because the scaling doesn't provide for a clean image and can't be doing proper 1 to 1 pixel mapping, if it was then no scaling would be required?

Any help appreciated seen a variety of posts around this but the "fiddle with scaling" is just a work around rather than a solution, surely?

    Si

I am not familiar with any differences with optimus equipped notebooks but try this assuming this is using nvidia graphics.

Nvidia control panel >Adjust Desktop Size and Position > Use Nvidia Scaling

Driver changes could have knocked this setting to something different, and it may also be individually adjustable for the externa display.

EDIT - It seems more like the bigger issue is you wanting to use the native resolution of the TV?

Just before you posted i noticed that your "other issue" seems to be not getting the native resolution of the tv your using.

There are other settings to try and take care of this. If your displaying the same image on the laptop as the tv, it will want to run at the laptop res so make sure the lid is closed or the screen is switched to hdmi out only.

If its not a mirror of the current display but just a second monitor then you should be able to individually set the resolution in nvidia control panel.

Other possibilities is you may need to change the resolution to native as its being improperly being detected or may even need to force a resolution if the card thinks the tv isnt capable of whatever resolution your trying to run.

If you are on an M11x R2, then the settings you would want to tweak are for the Intel GPU, not the nvidia GPU.

That's where I wasn't sure about. I haven't had the chance to mess with one of these yet.

    To change the output resoltuion:

    1. Right click the Desktop
    2. Click Graphic Properties
    3. Change the resolution to match that of your screen.
    4. Click + rep?

Joking... Or am I? Or was that a joke? OH NOES, PIME TARADOX.

So on a 22" HD monitor if I set the scaling to 100 for horiz and vert it fits the screen perfectly however on my 50" plasma which has a native res of 1920x1080 (same as the 22" LCD) I have to set the scaling to 55 to get it to fit the screen properly!

Very odd, tried all the settings on my TV and nothing seems to have any effect :-(
