Hello, I tried to update my graphics using the Nvidia driver I downloaded from the dell driver site, but after reboot, whenever I pressed fn+f6, or tried to change to my Nvidia card, all that would happen is I would get the grey and green "increased performance" graphic on the middle of the screen for about 1 minute. There was no switch on graphics card... Nothing! Just the image appearing, and lingering for a while.

After this, I downloaded and installed the beta driver from the dell site, but still the same problem.

Is this a known bug? Is there a way I can fix this? I am currently unable to switch to my Nvidia card.

    Running: M11x R1, 4gb ram, OC'd stock processor on stock BIOS (A01 I believe).
Battery life is a top priority for me, so opting to go for discrete-only is out of the question. Also, I didn't really take precautions when updating the driver; just downloaded and ran the installer.

Is there anything I can do? :( Thanks in advanced.

    what versions? Link? 197.72?

There is an A05 BIOS update already so you are a bit behind - check threads for feedback on this before updating.

For video its the same way. I think there is a thread discussing the most recent "official" driver so have a read there also.

Did you completely clean up the old drivers before installing new one? That normally sorts out the problem.

I read about both upgrades. Apparently the BIOS upgrade isn't really worth the trouble, and I stumbled upon no issue, or precaution regarding the official dell drivers.

As for what version, I was referring to version 192.72.

No, I didn't. How would I go about reversing the damage? Do I now have to downgrade? Or should I just clean current drivers, and run the installer again?

What do you suppose is my best course of action now?

I had downloaded the Bios A05 option first, then uninstalled the beta drivers from Spring, then reinstalled the 192.72 from Dell's web page. Part of me wants to run strictly on discrete gfx using NVidia's latest drivers, but I find I actually use the power save/onboard mode when toting my laptop around. I just kind of wish Dell wouldn't leave us R1 owners out in the cold...

Had the same problems 1 month ago, Make sure you erase your old driver and clean the data. Then Install the new driver.

Using latest nvidia drivers, and when I want to switch to "power save" mode I just reboot and set gxf to "switchable" in bios. Then system boots with just intel gfx and no discrete...
Am I doing something wrong?

Booting intel with Win7 detection? Maybe its the wrong driver without bundled intel?

All I did was uninstall the driver, and install it again.

Thank you all for your support, the issue is resolved. :)
