    Hello,
I recently got my hands on a beautiful M11x R1 machine. I really liked it because compared to my M17x it is MOBILE incarnated! :D

I'm planing to use it for university, text editing.. listening to music - etc. But I really would love it if I can play some games from time to time.
So I tried several of my favorite (Heroes 6, Diablo 3, WoW), but the sad truth is that they are unplayable.. Diablo and Heroes are more demanding - I get it, but WoW I should be able to play! I have friends that play it on a far inferior machines..

With WoW I have a specific problem; I run Fair/Good options and get around 60-75 fps but I constantly get random stutters.. Just out of nowhere.. Sometimes I have stutter-free periods (for like 5-10min) and then again.. every 15-20sec the game stutters :( And I can't seem to get what is happening.. Do you have any ideas for me?

P.S. I ran Win7 with the latest nVidia GT 335 drivers, then Win8 and now Win8.1 again with latest nVidia drivers - no change.. game stutters on all of the OS.
Overclocking is Enabled in BIOS; computer shows "SU7300 1.30Ghz 1.73Ghz"
All drivers are installed, everything works just fine
And last but not least - I only have my anti-virus, skype and HWMonitor working in the background..

Did you monitor the temperatures? Or newer drivers?

    I did - temp doesn't go above 63-65C. I don't think that's the issue.
Well, I'm using the recommended drivers from Dell' site (with the exeption of the nVidia graphics driver). I guess they are a bit outdated but do you recommend to manually try to update them?
Can it be because of that?

    Thank you in advance!

Try the dell drivers, even though thy seem updated they are usually more stable.

    All my drivers are from Dell;
I tried to install the GT 335M driver from there, but i kept failing so I just rolled back the latest from nVidia. Interesting part is that after that the laptop didn't stutter.
I hope it stays that way. I'm going to test it later today.

Btw I have some new problems with Windows 8.1 (as it turn out it's a massive problem for many users; not only Alienware users) - laptop can't Shut Down and Restart takes a looooot of time :(
I understand that it's a Microsoft problem, but still - any suggestions on that?

    Thank you again! Merry Christmas!

You need to keep this thing very lean when it comes to programs running in background, people tend to install dozens of bloatware apps that constantly running in background hogging the system. I got a R1 my self and it is fairly good but only after cutting the crapware. Win7 runs a bit better on older machines like this than 8 and I am running the Dell driver. Tried the Nvidia drivers that are current with no success.

I have problems both on Win7 and Win8.1; so I guess OS isn't that much of a problem.
I think I don't have bloatware apps. I'm running only Skype and HWMonitor in the background (and the game of course); on start-up I get only Skype, Anti-Virus, sound manager and synaptic driver for my touch pad..

I tried to install the Dell driver for 335M but it failed everytime with Win8.1; so I'm using the latest nVidia driver atm and itagain stutters.

P.S. Can I make and .iso file from my Win7 disk (from my M17x) and install it via USB on the M11x? I tried some time ago and it didn't work for some reason. Windows 7 UBS install tool didn't recognize the .iso I made :(

Mine doesn't stutter ONLY during gaming, but also normal use. It hangs, hangs everytime.
