I was hoping that I could get some help here. The new M11x R3 seems like a good upgrade vs. the R2. Not only have the processors been upgraded but the speakers and bluetooth have.

I want to upgrade my speakers in my M11x R1 desperately. I also would appreciate bluetooth 3.0 vs. the 2.1.

Does anyone know the part numbers of these components and knowledge on if they should work (their drivers work) in M11x R1.

    Thanks.

    How bizarre.

Maybe you would like to enlighten us as to why those two things in particular.

I know why I'd want those two, but the outlay to benefits don't make sense and you missed some important factors in the above statement which makes be raise my left eyebrow.

I'm listen to Internet radio via HDMI on a Yamaha receiver today, and a few mountainous speaker towers, but mostly it's Sennheiser headphones or Onkyo receiver and KEF speakers.

Original M11x versus M11xR3 speakers is only degrees in improvement.

    Buy some decent headphones.

Bluetooth 3.0 ?? Really. What are you using that takes advance of Bluetooth three? Otherwise you could have just said Bluetooth 4.0

If you have a good reason, I'd be genuinely very interested.

    Tell us why.

    I appreciate the response.

I have klipsch headphones that I use most of the time but when I'm getting ready in the morning and just want to hear some pandora, the music coming out now sucks. i was hoping the new r3 klipsch speakers were an upgrade for times when i want to casually listen to music through the internal speakers.

bluetooth 3.0, i would appreciate for basic reasons. 2.1 was the only option i saw available for the r1. now that 3.0 is an option, i would appreciate it. i don't like using a dongle either. this is just so i can use bluetooth mice and keyboard and the same time and for sharing files from my cellphone.

    UPDATE:

I called Dell Tech Support and they say the same internal speakers are in the R1 as the R3. The item numbers (to this alienware tech support rep) showed as being exactly the same. I also inquired about the drivers. On some review sites it shows the R3 running WAVES MAXXAUDIO (similar to dell xps series). I had an XPS and the music in them was great. Granted it was mostly because they had awesome JBL speakers. However, the MAXXAUDIO software was great too. It helped make the speakers sound better. I looked around and wanted to get the WAVES MAXXAUDIO installed on my r1 but I can't find the driver. The dell tech rep said again that the r3 and r1 have the same driver. I'm confused though see that Dell updated the audio drivers on the R3 and took away MAXXAUDIO features (don't know why though).
