Did you install the free fall sensor and card reader drivers? That got rid of my last 3 devices.

I did not install the free fall sensor since I installed an SSD. (I'm not sure if I should or not).

I tried installing the card reader driver, but it only installed the firewire. I tried installing it 2x, but it didn't work.

The on screen display is another one that shows up if you haven't already installed it yet. Not sure if the free fall sensor makes a difference in your case but it is always one of the unknown devices. Other than what I already mentioned, I can't think of anything else.

If you right click on the unknown device and in the properties>details, look for the hardware ID (you can right click copy) and google it sometimes you can figure out what your missing
(example, SYN071B is the hardware ID for the touchpad)

I had that happen, even when I installed everything. A windows update cleared it up, pretty sure it was the card reader for some reason, even though I installed the dell drivers. Also, freefall sensor. Not sure how it works with SSD though.

2 of them only say "base system device"

    PCI bus 26, device 0, function 1
    PCI bus 26, device 0, function 3

3rd one is this. This one is the free fall sensor it seems from searching. I have an SSD so I only need to find out what the other 2 are for I think.

Seems like there should be more info somwhere, but noticed win7 is a little different- I think it might be chipset related.. you might want to go
Intel® Driver Update Utility (needs Internet exploder to run)
if you haven't already and see if the chipset drivers fix your problem

..but heres a list off my mx11, maybe you'll notice something missing..

    Devices list

or perhaps they are related to the fall sensor..

Here is mine. I see some things are different, but am not seeing what is really missing with a download available from dell.

Thanks Overzealot, I was working on a similar/same issue on my R2 over in THIS post when I stumbled across this for the R1. This worked perfectly.

    Cheers
