R1 guys only please on this one. Now that we have had our machines (assuming here) for a while, what type of gpu temps are you getting during hardcore gaming? I was playing BFBC2 today and I switched over to evga precision and noticed my gpu temp was up to 60. Not hot compared to other video card standards but pretty hot for the R1. I used to sit in the 56 range if I remember correctly. (This was not overclocking the gpu either). So I actually downclocked the gpu and mem by 50mhz and noticed that BFBC2 actually seemed more stable and smooth. Frame rate was more stable (i run fraps every game usually).

Curious if everyone who games on the R1 is hitting 60 or just me now. This is just playing on my lap, no cooler or anything.

Bios is A03. Driver is 258.49.

    Best wishes,

    StevenX

I have no cooler either and no overclock on CPU or GPU. My max usually reaches just below 60 degrees on BFBC2 and around 65 when playing Assassin's Creed 2.

    M11xR1 SU7300 1.7Ghz OC'd GPU is standard nVidia 197.72 with no over-clocking.

Haven't gone mega mad in Crysis but I'm getting max 58C as seen by CPUID Hardware Monitor.

My fan kicks in at 45C GPU or 40C CPU depending on which comes first.

I have BIOS A01 as I haven't fancied any of the new ones yet.

    Sensor Max
    ------------------
    CPU
    Core#0 51C
    Core#1 50C
    GPU
    GPU Core 58C

    Peace and happiness,

Rolled back to the stock GPU drivers and BIOS.. I hit 60C quite often but it never normally gets any hotter.

My R1 hits 60c then the fans ramp up and it never normally goes any higher!

Using A03 Bios and new Dell WHQL drivers (197.xx I think)

Display drivers??? Like different versions of nVidia? Or control panel 3D settings per application? HDMI/DisplayPort? Screen Resolutions?

The latest versions of Dells nVidia drivers are my 'happy place'. I wouldn't go outside these unless there is a good reason.

I do over-clock the GPU every now and then, but my two games (Crysis and Panzer phase I/II) play fine at standard settings without GPU OC'ing.

@Dr - The official drivers from Dell? 197.25? I know that 197.45 or somewhere in that release range, nvidia did some optimizing that increased performance to many games (crysis included). They claimed 15 percent increase. Did anyone notice if these "official" drivers have this included?
I know that 258.49 have the updates that are supposed to optimize BFBC2 (257.XX and later). That is why I am using this particular version.

i have only tried the dell releases. I keep meaning to DL your 258 but I havent wanted to turn off intel.

I am still getting poor performance in BFBC2 compared to you so the only thing I can attribute it to is the drivers (I have tried all your tweaks as well as many others)

Where did you get the drivers? are they from nvidia or modded with an inf?
    cheers

For the GPU either MSI afterburner or EVGA Precision (same program in a different skin).

I was just running Dead Space 2 and I had it in windowed mode to keep tabs on the temps and the battery life. It never got above 54C and I assume the fan was running on high. I believe I have the A04 BIOS but I'll edit this if I don't.

Also, I'm using BatteryBar to monitor my power, and CoreTemp combined with a gadget called All CPU Meter to monitor my temps and such.

I didnt really pay too much attention when I used to game but I think it ran around 50C peak(give or take a degree or 2). I may be a bit off, but that sounds about what it was with a long WoW session mixed with other tasks going on in the background. Honestly it was rare to hear the fan kick on even when raiding or running around a heavy pop city.

    edit: I also have my SU7300 OC'd.
