    M11x R1 Firewire

    Hey guys/girls.

    I have a strange problem, just wanted to know if anyone else has had any similar experiences. When I received my laptop I used the firewire and everything worked fine.

    After about 2 or 3 months I formatted my laptop and installed the OS from the dvd (i bought an external dvd drive). I installed all the drivers on the Dell webpage and in the order that they recommend. But I cant get my firewire to work now. I have tried the one on the Dell page and also the Jmicron one on the Jmicron website.

    Its not the cable or the firewire port as I have booted a linux live environment and my harddrive worked. I could read and write to it in linux but not in windows.

    When I connect my firewire during windows, I can see the harddrive but as soon as try to copy anything my system starts to hang. Or freeze up totally. I have to then hard restart.

    Anyone with similar problems?
