Basically the exact same problem as this post

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/576557-alienware-m11x-r1-backlight-wrong-colour.html

but now the whole left ctrl thing doesn't make it go back to blue. I'm afraid the blue LED is out. if that's possible. it seems like the back light uses a mixture of blue and green to get the light blue. If i set it to the deepest blue on the Command Center it shows up as black. Leading me to believe it burnt out and I think i just went out of warranty. Would this even be covered by the warranty?

    Ugh, warranty expired 8/27/11

Im reinstalling command center now. I havent tried reseating the thing but i suppose i could try that if thats what it might be.

    Thanks

As you said, the cable has most likely come loose, LED's tend not to burn out. I had to do this several times after removing my keyboard, first time because the lights wouldn't work, the second time because the keys wouldn't work :S

Basically there are two ribbon cables, a small, thin one and a wide on. The thin one provides power to the lights, the wide one is a PS/2 connection for the keys. Just make sure they're secure and be really careful with them - ribbon cables tear really easily.

unusual to have more than one fail so if not connection related then something other than the lights have failed imo. +1 for reseat
