Hi! Can anyone please tell me where I can pick up a M11x r3 from London? I'll be staying near Oxford Street so somewhere close to that(Tottenham Court Road, etc.) will be best :)

    Thanks

I haven't lived in London for a year and a half but PC World Tottenham Court Road might do. I think they sell some Dell laptops but Dell is mainly an online retailer isn't it?

Thanks for the replies but seeing that I will only be in London for 3 days it makes it quite hard to order it online :/

I don't think there are any places in that physically stock Alienware in London. I've trawled most of the specialist electronics shops in Tottenham Court Road and not seen any, not even second hand.

Having tried to source on anywhere in the UK, I found it pretty near impossible to find one. All the big brand PC stores don't seem to stock any AW's. PCWorld only had one desktop and that was online only so I think you might be out of luck.

To be fair, maybe it is no bad thing, as the UK prices seem to be priced uncompetitively vs the rest of the world!! How come you want to get ahold of a UK one in particular?

As I will be travelling to Lonodn, I thought it would be better to get one from ther ( here in Malta they are more expensive) and I prefer to get it from a store rather than an online retailer.... can anyone please recommend some good stores that sell Laptops in the area of Oxfor Street?
    Thanks

If your coming in through Heathrow, they sell them in the departures area in terminal 5. You obviously would have to buy on the way home but you will also save about $400 off as you wouldn't pay import duty tax on it.

Agree with M11Ash - if you can wait till the way back, then pick one up in duty free as you will save not only the duty but they normally have some good discounts in there to tempt the impulse buyer. The downside is the selection will be more limited, not only generally, but also what happens to be in there on the day, so you might not get the one you actually want.

There are plenty of shops around the bottom of Tottenham Court Road where it meets Oxford Street, starting there and heading towards Warren Street tube, there are lots of shops up the street, some chains but many independents as well. The chains are Microanvika, a Sony Galleria store, Maplins, Gultronics, and at the top, opposite Warren St tube, PC World. Most of these have websites, and note that there is a bigger Microanvika halfway up (opposite Maplins). However, you'll be charged at full price mostly in these shops unless you can drive a bargain or go for a second hand machine (assuming that is acceptable). I am almost positive that you will not find any Alienware machines anywhere though... and few Dells overall. There are also a few shops in the newer Westfield shopping centre, and John Lewis on Oxford Street has a fairly large selection, but all a bit run of the mill. That's a starter for ten - fire any questions up and I'll try to expand on anything I can.

    Good luck!

Actually, if you're a non-resident (of the UK), you can claim the VAT back, if you buy in a regular store.

When you buy the laptop, the store should be able to give you the right paperwork. There's a customs desk at the departure terminal. Give them the completed paperwork & a receipt and show them that you have your purchase with you & the tax will be refunded. What is VAT these days, 20%?

If you wait to buy duty free at the airport, you won't have to deal with the paperwork, but as noted above, you may not get the machine that you want.

    Best of luck.
