Just a tip for some people that like to save money and still buy from a reputable online retailer. Amazon is selling the same anti-glare screen protector on dell for $25.24 + $4.99 shipping. Just search for RT-SPM11X02 on amazon.com and you save $10 instead of giving it to dell. :D

It's $30 shipped from buy.com - going to try to get a little bing cashback as well. Tried using my m11x while waiting at a hospital today and the glare was driving me nuts.

    $30.73 with 2-day shipping.

    That's not bad.

I have been using one for 2 weeks, and I think it's well worth it.

Does anyone know how the NuShield DayVue stacks up against the Green Onion offered by Dell? Thanks!

Both Dell and Buy.com are out of stock on the Green Onions protector. Any suggestions?

the green onion one is okay, the protector has been cut out and fits perfectly on the screen...but the screen does get a bit grainy once it is on

I just went ahead and placed my order on dell's site for the Green Onion. It says they are out of stock but it still let me check out. Says the EDD is 7-26-10...so if everything comes in on time my m11x will be naked for 10 days.

Can anyone tell me how tough these things are to put on. I am terrible at putting stuff like this on.

Most people will probably tell you it is easy, but I'm like you. I am extremely picky and want everything just perfect and these things are a nightmare for me. The first time I applied this protector I had some bubbles that I couldn't get out, so I re-applied it and ended up with a few visible specks of dust. I re-applied a 3rd time and ended up with even more dust spots, which I tried to remove with scotch tape but it didn't work, so I ended up just applying "as is". I can still see a lot of marks in one corner when the screen is off, but once I turn the laptop on they aren't noticeable

First let me say that I have arthritis in my hands and applying a screen saver such as this can be tricky for me. However, I had no problems with this one. I received my Green Onion protector yesterday from Dell. I first cleaned the laptop's screen with an eyeglass cleaner pad, then wiped it down with the included lint-free cloth. After installation I noticed one small trapped dust speck. I lifted the edge of the protector, touched a piece of cellophane tape to the dust speck to remove it from the protector and settled the protector back in place. I have no dust or small bubbles at all in the viewable screen area. There are 2 small bubbles on the lower black plastic frame under the screen itself. I haven't tried to remove these as they are not noticable except on close inspection and don't interfere in any way with the screen picture. Also, if this protector is like others I've used in the past, I expect small bubbles such as these to disappear by themselves over the next day or so.

While I've only used this anti-glare screen for less than a day, I can say it works great on my week-old M11x - no more screen glare! :)

I'm not a fan but it's better than nothing. Got mine the same day as the laptop. Applied it right away. Went on super easy.

Trouble is everything is grainy as hell. It's tough to make out text sometimes.

I dont notice it so much when playing a game but for reading something or surfing it can be a real pain.

Considering how I toss the laptop in a bag and drag it everywhere something on the screen is a must but the grainyness of it is horrible at times. It strains my eyes to see past it.

I also noticed that the green onion screen protector has been out everywhere.

Although I did successfully order it from Buy.com on 6/29 from the Amazon website, Buy.com e-mailed me a delayed delivery notice on 7/2. I am still waiting for the delivery of my order, and hope to receive it before my m11x arrives sometime next week.

Gotto say it's a love/hate relationship for me. On dark backgrounds it is wonderfull, but on light/white backgrounds like web pages word docs emails etc it can be difficult to read (especially with low brightness on battery). I think the only reason it is still used is because I am worried about protecting the screen from scratches and reminding myself of the mirror reflection.

When I applied it I worked my way from right to left and removed bubbles as I went. When I got to the left it was mis-aligned by about 1mm. So I restarted by going from top to bottom. First I got the top to align correctly and then worked my way down again removing bubbles as they formed. I have applied screen protectors to many a product and this was one of the easier ones.
    So 2 pieces of advice - work from top to bottom, removing the backing as you go and;
-as you see bubbles forming, peel back to the bubble and rub the air out. Don't apply the entire screen and then try to remove bubbles

Exactly my experience. I am pretty OCD when applying these things but eventually I was like "whatever". I'd rather protect the screen and see things than worry about a few specks of dust. My house is just a dust magnet anyways so I just accepted it. And as well, the "applying in the bathroom after a hot shower" is good advice.

Seriously though... try this: A2G Anti-Glare Screen Protector for Alienware M11x Netbook Computer : Monitors: Flat Panel and Widescreen | Dell[/QUOTE]

I just canceled my order for my m11x r2 and I ordered this and the laptop at the same time so this was shipped the day after I order it. It wont work for the new laptop I ordered. The original packaging was bent so I took it out and put it in a heavy book to flatten it out and my wife through out the packaging but its never been used and came with the cleaning cloth so if your interested PM me and we can work out a deal. I'm hoping to at least recoup half I paid with was $29.99.

    Thanks all
    -Mac

I'd be willing to let it go for $15.00 plus shipping if anyone is interested.

I kind of regret spending the $45 ($30 + $15 for 2 day shipping) for the green onion screen protector :( although the protector was perfectly cut/fit great and does the job of protecting the screen...the screen became so grainy once the protector was on. It was hard for me to see some words/pages properly and at times, i got a bit dizzy with all the strain on my eyes. I decided to take it off and wait until another well known screen protector is out there before i buy another screen protector.

Don't they make anti glare screen protectors that are removable and attach to the laptop and then you can simply remove them after using? I have seen these used on monitors and would honestly like something similar for a laptop. Something like the following:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00028OOTS/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002VCVJ5K&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0FT91W1K498CWBP0C3MF

I despise the kind that stick on due to bubbles and wanting the screen to look perfect.

Being in Canada, I couldn't find the screen protector which most in this thread have discussed. Last night I applied the 'KAI anti-glare protector' which I purchased from eBay. I'm thinking it is going to come off. It has eliminated glare which is nice, but text seems fuzzy. Has anyone else found this?

I noticed today on eBay that the Exim SPUC/Exim SPUP protectors are now available for the m11x. I've used them on my phones and cameras with great success, so maybe that is the route to go; has anyone tried these?

New and used m11x exim, Computers Networking on eBay.ca

I should add that as a tip for applying these; I use scotch tape to lift off any dust particles that get on the screen protector as I'm applying, and then use a credit card to push out the bubbles; I've had pretty good luck applying these so far.

Yeah, but that's just another thing to have to carry around.

I have the Green Onion A2G, and I don't have a single bubble.

i just applied one of these. the cut is perfect and it's easy to apply. if you make a mistake after you apply the whole thing you can peel a corner to get out a bubble. if you get a speck of dust under it you can peel that section, take it out with scotch tape, and put it back on. now the bad:

    THE GRAIN IS UNREAL!!

i saw that people mentioned the grain before but when i turned the m11x on i was like what the heck ?? my only prior experience was with power support clear and anti-glare screen protectors on my iphone and those were both awesome. i really don't even care about the anti-glare, i bought this to protect the screen from getting scratches from the keyboard. i want to rip it off right now, after all of 10 minutes using it, but i'll leave it on for a while since i paid for it.

is most everyone using the green onion protector from dell having Grainy issues. I bought 4 of the 15.6" screen protectors for the price of one and i have had good luck and it did not bother me at all. I just got the m15x and plan to use if for 3 days without a protector and then apply one this weekend so i will update to if i notice any grainy text. The m11x is perfectly fine for me and it has it applied but i got it on the first day i got the laptop so i am use to it now. Of course you will have to do some trimming but it is not bad at all just use a paper and trace and then cut the film the only trimming i did was the top of the lcd and the side. I have 4 of them to try but i was fine with the first and only have 1 small speck of dust. I can see all the marking on the screen protector from where the keyboard is rubbing off so i am glad to know the protectors is protecting lolz and reducing glare by about 35%

    $9.99 SHIPPED

Mwave 15.6" iSHIELD Anti-Reflective Screen Protector (Japaness High Quality Film), Size: 343 X 204 from mwave.com

It was the graininess of the protector, not the glare of the screen, that I didn't notice.

And you forgot the 1/2 pack of cigarettes! :D :D

Well, I bought the one below from Ebay, it is great, I used in medium-light ambients with 2/7 or 4/7 brightness and I can read it perfectly, however, people from odd angles, sitting next to you, see it rather grainy, which isn't an issue to me.

Also, it improved like 80%, so it's not a full solution, however, it's 80% better of how it was and I can read it perfectly, looking at the screen in the normal
    angle of normal usage.

11.6 Anti-Glare Screen Guard for Dell Alienware M11X | eBay

PS: I never used another anti-reflex screen protector, so I can't really compare.

Here's a comparison I made of the M11x r1 with no protection film and an M11x r3 with Green Onion Supply AG2 Anti-glare screen filter:
    YouTube - ‪Dell Alienware M11x r3 AG2 screen filter comparison‬‏

Press 6 to jump to the part with the angled reflection comparison (best comparison).

I'm attaching pics as well. First is with the filter, second is without the filter, and the third shows the holes I cut in the filter to adapt it to the r3's dual microphones which are spaced farther than the single mic on the r1/r2.

I ordered the following anti-glare screen protector and it also comes with a keyboard protector. It was only $17 and it only took a week for delivery from Hong Kong.

    Keyboard Skin+11.6 Anti-glare Cover DELL Alienware M11x | eBay

The screen protector is a bit grainy like the other anti-glare ones. It was very easy to install and it's a great deal. The keyboard protector is also great. I was using the Cooskin protector but it constantly came off and it was very frustrating.

The reason for this is how the films work. They all work this way.

The thicker, more glare-reducing films, introduce more grain.

So it's a trade off. You reduce more glare, you introduce more grain. I think the green onion is a good film. I have not tried the others - I have heard the more generic no-name Hong Kong ones off eBay are the worst.

Green Onion Supply is great. That's what I have on my M11x. Greatly reduces glare, and adds very little graininess. Again though, why not offer a matte screen?

Yeah, with a matte screen the Alienware laptops would be complete... how hard can it be for dell to do this?
Can't seem to find a site that ships the Green Onions to Europe, so I bought the one off ebay, hopefully it won't be too bad.
