M11x - Protective Decals

Has anyone tried these? They are all over Amazon and the few reviews highly rate them. I was hoping to get some feed back as well as images. The ones on Amazon look to be editted a bit so that they are more pleasing. Be nice to see some images without and edits.

I don't know how well those would stick to the soft touch surface.

I prefer the soft touch over something like that too.

Too bad they don't have sports team themed ones. Problem is most look like Tattoo art. But I do like the carbon fiber and steel mesh ones. At $35 shipped not too bad actually.

 

Wow, some of those look really cool! I think I might get one, eventually. Are they easy to remove, as well? They don't leave marks? I think it seems like a great thing to do to preserve the original outer shell of the notebook, so if you ever re-sell it, it won't have any scratches or smudges or anything. I honestly love the way the M11x looks even without a decal, though...

 

I don't care for all the fancy decals, but like I said, the carbon fiber or mesh metal look pretty cool, and keep the overall "black" finish and look. If it's anything like decals I've used in the past, they aren't too bad to take off. Cleans off easily with alcohol.

 

You can actually go on the site and create your own using images. If you want a sports team one I'm sure you can upload their logo or something. I'd check it out.

Edit: And if you dont have Amazon Prime (free 2day shipping) I'd definitely go with the site because shipping is $4 if I remember correctly. Goes from $24 to $28

 

Even if you have amazon prime, you pay the shipping anyway. It's not shipped from amazon warehouse.

Also, I'd be careful about these. Read some reviews on them. I was thinking about getting them as well until I came across few things.

1. You do not want sticky palm rests, do you?
2. The stickers on the screen and palm rest stick to each other somewhat when the laptop is closed.

I didn't want that nasty feeling. Some people just use the outer shell sticker and ignore the inner stickers just for this reason. Not worth 30 dollars either.

 

Sticky? It's vinyl, it shouldn't be sticky. Vinyl is like anti-sticky. And if your laptop lid is that close to your palm rest then your lid is too close to your keyboard. Most lids have bumpers on them of at least several mm thick which would more than offset the less than mm vinyl. If not get some bumpers to put on your lid.

 

Also, if you order from the site you can select just one side or the other. I wasnt intending on using the screen or the palm rest. ON the site you can order just the back of the laptop for 15 bucks if you wanted.
