hello experts...maybe someone can help me

my laptop works fine but when i connect it to the external monitor...and try to play videos using VLC or windows media player it takes like 3 seconds of black screen to switch the video to full screen and then it plays fine...but then takes 3 seconds of black screen again to switch out of full screen video mode....also, when i try to use the webcam the video on the screen lags and it doesn't lag without the external monitor....i have all the updated drivers already and am using the highest recommended resolution and my graphics card is geforce gt540M....i tried searching all over and can't find how to solve the problem....oh by the way, i am using hdmi to hdmi connection...u would think that everything should work find on an external display but i don't know why it doesn't...please any help/feedback appreciated

I use an HDMI connection to a 23" Samsung Syncmaster XL2370 with none of these issues with VLC or WMP. Check your power settings and in advanced settings make sure that any graphics settings are set to "max performance."

However, to be honest, it sounds like it's probably your monitor that's the culprit. If you have a friend with an hdmi-equipped monitor or a tv sitting around see if it has the same problem on another display besides your Hanspree. Also, make sure you're running at the native resolution for the monitor.

thanks for the advice...yeah i was thinking too it could just be the monitor's fault but i dont have a clue on how to fix, as all the settings are correct and i don't have another monitor to test it on

just in case anyone is wondering, turning on 'anti-motion blur' in the webcam program solved the lag program...but the full screen problem still exists
