I havent been using my m11x a lot in the weekend but since upgrading to a03 a couple days ago I didnt noticed any issues regarding sleep/awake functions.

I will test this more tonight and see what happens

Do a clean install of your display driver and see if that corrects the resume issue.

So I should download the OSD application update and the BIOS update so that it wont pop up or minimize the window everytime I change volume ingame?\

AO3 works PERFECTLY on my machine... sleeps and wakes great... bluetooth works perfectly... the speed and battery life is exactly the same... no issues at all...

it seems to have fixed a random ACPI power issue that i would rarely have that caused a bluescreen... it doesnt do it anymore...

It's been a while since I asked, but, since I did not get a reply to this question, I was hoping that with the A03 bios out for more than a week now, that more people have tried it out, and would be able to confirm that installing the A03 bios would cause the m11xR2's to be noisier due to the Fans being on more and more constant.

Anyone have any fresh feedback? Thanks. :)

I have noticed no fan changes, but that's only my opinion I haven't measured anything.

I've come to the conclusion that this entire forum is obsessed with meaningless measurements. It works, I have noticed no changes since A02 except I now have a volume OSD.

Thanks. I was not hoping for any kind of quantitative measurements, only great personal opinions.

The reason why I asked was because someone posted that the fans came on alot more and more consistently after they updated to the A03 bios. I really love the near silent operation when not doing any intensive gaming and hope that the latest A03 bios does not change that.

Looks like from your reply, it seems to be the same. :D I am still on the A01 bios since I got it slightly more than a month ago.

I haven't noticed it being any louder, but I'm not a very good judge of that as my ears aren't what they used to be. Based on the somewhat limited tests that some of us have done, it would appear that the changes they made in the fan tables have to do with the thresholds for ramping to/from normal and high speeds. The upper and lower limits of fan actuation appear to be the same. It's that transition to high speed that will largely determine if A03 is louder or not. Again, I can't say I've focused on noise much, as it's really caught my attention.

Sorry it wasn't my intent to sound quite so mean. I was just trying to say that I think many seem to loose sight of "Yes, it works quite well" and obsess over the last RPM, FPS or 5 minutes of battery life.

Do NOT update to these drivers if you have no problems with your m11x and want it to remain nearly silent.

For some reason my fans kick in a lot more often and they stay on and never go off. It's not annoying for short use, but more than 30 minutes and it will ruin your concentration. Not even running any games.

After putting it to sleep and coming back, the fans went silent again, so there's that.

I never learn my lesson... "If it's working, don't mess with it..."

I can now safely O/C to 166Mhz FSB with turboboost on without a single BSOD after 72hrs. Although I still haven't been able get rid of this damn screen freeze upon wake up from sleep - reinstalled intel and Nvidia drivers without any luck :-/

    The fans are way louder.
In all honesty, I hope Alienware sets them back by just a bit...

Looks like I am going to continue using the original A01 Bios that came with my system and sticking with the 3RVX software to have the volume OSD until another revision of the Bios comes out. I really treasure the almost silent operation on the m11x during normal use(not gaming), and would hate to lose it.

I find that my bootup time is longer with the new OSD A04 :(

And also the fan kicks in more frequently with the BIOS A03 installed

I'm not sure how the OSD application could increase the boot time in any noticeable way.

maybe i am trippin but i am pretty sure after installing A03 that turbo boost is on all the time now when plugged in. Before it would throttle down when the pc wasn't in use. After watching CPU-Z last night for a couple hours while playing SC2 on my desktop it stayed at x14-x17 multiplier the whole time.
Also the volume OSD wasn't fixed unless i forgot to change something?

Makes sense, louder fan cooler processor more TB. I have the i5 so dont experience turbo boost being throttled down. When i keep min processor at 100% it locks it at 14x on core0 and 12x on core 1.

I'm not sure I understand why the i5 would be any different from the i7 in terms of TB throttling...

My mistake i made it seem like my observation of the i5 throttling was fact, i've just never experienced it list most of the people with i7's i dont have proof or anything. But what does make sense is that the maximum turbo boost for the i7 is 17X multiplier whereas for the i5 it is 14X. Perhaps the TDP, heat, and all of the other factors that control turbo boost are pushed to its limits at 17X whereas at 14X it does not push those limits.

Yes, but I did not relate this to the BIOS update because I rarely use bluetooth...just happen to have an old camera that sends pix via bluetooth and don't use that feature very often.
Like you say, I had to reinstall the drivers.

Step 1: Download the bios update, which is an application

    Step 2: Run the application

Step 3: ????(Let the BIOS update, make sure not to plug or unplug anything)

Step 4: PROFIT!(The Bios has successfully updated. Restart is suggested.)

This bios is terrible, it does fix OSD issues like the fn+volume osd, but the temps are ridiculous almost 15 degrees more for me and bad fan tables. A02 is better

I went through the thread and saw you guys talking about the A04 Bios.
I can't find it on the dell site, the latest ones that it gives me for the M11xR2 is the A03.

Could someone lead me to the A04 bios please?
