After I close the lid and i reopen it the fans turn on i see the wifi blinking and the alien head, but for some reason the screen is blank, and when i say blank i mean theres no back light or anything it appears as if the monitor thinks the computers shut off, how would i fix this? I just installed the 257.21 nvidia driver but i dont think that could be the problem as the 258 worked fine.

Just make sure your computer doesn't go to sleep when you close the lid, I believe that option is in Power Options under Control Panel. This should solve your issue.

Which drivers are these? Have you disabled the Intel card?

Why do you want to use 257 instead of 258, or for that matter, the official 197.72?

By the way, here is Nautis' packaged 258.49 with switching working, and 257, but broken for switching.

Put it into sleep mode via the start menu or set the alienhead to sleep it.

I haven't been on these forums for a few months but I'm assuming the problem still persists that it won't wake up properly when put into sleep mode by closing the lid.

If i put it to sleep via start menu it wakes up as long as i dont close the notebook, or keep it sleep for a long time. Any chance anyone knows how to fix this bug, starting to get on my nerves lol.

I get atleast a 5+ fps with 257, 258 series then the official 197 dell drivers, also I'll try those drivers out. I've heard alot 258 apparently gives the most increase.

Edit : Tried the drivers out they dont work and the computer doesnt recognize them as a driver.

You need to change the power options to tell it what you want it to do. It's setup to turn go to sleep, hibernate, turn off the display, turn off the hdd, etc. after certain amounts of time.

thats.. not the problem. The notebook completely turns off the display no matter what you do after you close the lid , sleep hibernate etc etc does not affect this.

    Model: M11xR1 SU7300 OC'd
    BIOS: A01
    nVidia: 197.72 Dell Supplied
    Power: DC (Not Battery)
    Power profile: High Performance
    WiFi: Enabled
Lid closed actions with power on: Do Nothing.
Test duration with lid closed: 5 minutes.

With either discrete or integrated GPU if I close the lid when the power is on, everything appears to shut-down/sleep.

Lights go out, fan goes off and all is quite.

Reopen the lid and everything wakes up. WiFi shows no connection drop as noted by WiFi connection duration.

Originally I set my notebook up so that I could close the lid when using two external 24" monitors and keyboard without the notebook shutting down.
The external monitor configuration with lid closed and notebook operating works fine.

All good and all works for me.

One other thing, by providing as much background information as you can about the current configuration of your notebook assists others in providing a solution.

    What was the error?

If the installer seems to have completed without error (you would have had to have clicked a button like 'install anyways' after windows realizes that they're not signed), after the restart you will have had to sign the driver: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/24041-install-procedure-for-hybrid-graphics-x64/

I always put mine to sleep just by closing the lid, using the latest Dell drivers. No issues at all for me with resuming, except sometimes nvvsvc.exe uses 100% CPU of one core for 30 seconds or so.

    CPU: 1.3 @ 1.73
    BIOS: A04
    nVidia: 258.69(beta nvidia drivers)
    Power: DC (Not Battery)
    Power profile: High Performance
    WiFi: Enabled
Power Settings when closing lid: Sleep
Problem: Works perfectly fine before closing the lid however after closing the lid and re opening the screen is blacked out as if it thinks the computer has turned off over clock nor discrete/switchable affects this.

thats actually what the problem was, that the driver wasn't "signed" and thus could not be activated. Il follow through that and see if it works now.
