Over the last couple of days i've noticed now and then that it makes a sort of beeping noise i'm not sure if it's a beep but it does it to the right side of the laptop.
Any idea's what this could be? totally out of my area to even try and guess what it is.

Are you waving your M11xR2 around or trying to swat flies with it when it 'beeps'?
It could be the freefall censor. This is designed to protect your notebook when it detects it is falling and gives it a change to retract the heads on the HDD and etc.
Although, this is more like a chirp than a beep.
There was a note out on older Seagate HDD firmware with regards to them 'clicking'. The new firmware corrected this. Probably not an issue for an M11xR2 though. And with Dells hardware spread, you may not even have a Seagate HDD, it could be another manufacturer.
All that aside, if it's a windows 7 OS beeping you could probably isolate it to the application that is trying to tell you something. -
I don't think it's a sound coming from any application i'm running i can't describe the noise it's not a high pitched beep.
Doesn't happen all the time either.
Ah well my Laptop aint smoking so it can't be anything too bad. -
HDD is located at the front right on the M11x.
On the side of the three audio ports.
The rest of the space on the right hand side is taken up with the battery pack.
What disk drive do you have? -
It is called "Capacitor Whine". It is seriously annoying and it gives me a headache whenever I use my laptop.
I have it coming from my i7 processor at the moment so I requested Dell to replace my motherboard. -
Apparently you'll stop hearing that frequency as you get older so it won't bother you forever. Mine does the same thing which annoyed me until I got used to it. However neither of my parents can hear it.

How would i know what HDD i have?
Memory wise it's just the standard 250gig but i don't know what make it is. -
start -> computer -> system properties -> Device Manager -> Disk drives
M11X r2 makes a beeping noise.
