    Hey guy's,

My hinge on my m11x is buggered, warranty is out! I opened it for a self fix but the nut hinge is sooooo unbelievably tight and so could not loosen it. I've decided on buying a nut driver to loosen it but don't know the nut size the hinge uses. Anybody know what it is?

    Thanks

Uh, using pliers? <cringe> Its sometimes cheaper to get tools like that in a small set. I am not aware of the size but you can probably match it up with a small socket or wrench if you have any handy.

Did you contact Dell about the hinge?

Well, i was going to buy a nut driver. The sizes they have go from 3mm - 10mm. Im not sure but I think I need the 5mm nut driver. I tried to unloosen them using pliers but they are too damn tight and results in basically nothing. My warranty expired about 7 months ago so Dell wont do anything. Anyway, its too late to look to Dell, I've already opened it up.

Does anyone else know the nut size in the hinge?

The problem is, I have already opened up my system and used epoxy glue in it. I dont think they'l accept it for hinge replacement now will they?

    You could always ask them...

But more important, why do you need to loosen the nut? If you already glued them then it should not be a problem with the hinges being too tight.

I think the first mistake was grabbing the pliers. Then somehow you found epoxy thread without reading about the warranty coverage for hinge failures.

While Dell may honor your hinge repair its less "sure" now.

I do not know the size.
