    What should I do?

I just purchased the laptop today. Did the setup in the car ride back home and then I closed it. I started to put a password in this set-up wizzard then it asked if i wanted to enroll with the visual ID and then I decided to cancel the set-up so I can read more into it when I get home. HOWEVER.

When I got home, it asked me to enter in a password to log in.. now I typed it in and it wont let me, it was incorrect. there is no way i typed the password in wrong TWICE.

I tried putting it in caps, first letter in shift, all other sorts of combo.

--- I figured that maybe I could just reformat, so I went through the F8? or what ever the system restore button is on there, and it asked yet again (HAHA) for a password. Again- incorrect password. Is there a way to master reformat? Or is that what I should do? Or what?

I've been using computers ever since I could remember, this is deff. a first .

    thanks for any help..

    Sonny

You could try logging onto the inbuilt administrator account without a password. Just type Administrator in as the username and put in no password.
Failing that there are tools out there which can remove passwords but as far as I know we arent allowed to discuss them on this forum.

it happen to one of my friend last year(although not in m11x). i don't know how she get it back. maybe your keyboard at "caps lock" or you set password while it was "caps lock". did you use "shift"? try different way until you had no other options.

    1.capslock
2.capslock +(use shift if you used shift to set your password)
    3.capslock off
    4.capslock off+(shift)
5.alt+control if u had other language(causes to type differently) installed

If you're trying to log in as a user into the computer, are you logging in as ComputerName /UserName or ComputerName \UserName? Only the latter works, I have users coming to me at work with this issue often.

Check your CAPS LOCK as suggested. Other than that, contact Dell technical Support. Password assists are not permitted here.
