About a year ago, my computer screen simply would not turn back on after I went into sleep.
I used my laptop by balancing the screen against something, due to the hinges being faulty. Ever since this, I've simply leaned the screen back, free from the plastic covering, and used it with an external monitor. With vacation coming up, I'd like to be able to use my laptop away from the house, so when I went back to make attempts to fix the screen, I made progress from a blank screen to a white screen upon startup by examining all plugins from the computer to screen and making sure they were all secure.
I get this when all plugs are secured to the untrained eye, perhaps a trained eye could diagnose this.

    Thanks.

I'd start off by trying to update the BIOS and video card drivers. If neither of those work, I personally couldn't diagnose it any other way by that the screen itself (or wires/connectors) must be malfunctioning, whether that's from previous EMI, damage, or a manufactured problem I don't know.
