Has anyone tried putting the new mobo into the old system? I know the video card is integrated, etc, and thought of this as an unlikely but possible option. The R3 mobos are going for around $350 on ebay which is pretty reasonable.

Edit - nevermind, pretty obvious it wont work very well as the port layout on the left side is completely different between the two models. At the very least, you would have to do some very unattractive case work to get at the ports.

Yup I was gonna say that. It does not fit there. The R1 is completely different compared to the R2 and R3.
