Gotta say, I downloaded War Inc Battlezone off steam and I cant play it in any higher than 'Low' setting without the FPS dropping to below 20. Does that sound right?

    Cheers.

I haven't had any issues with mine so far.

I'm not sure about it, but this could be optimus not kicking in automatically. If that's the case, then this should help, give it a try :)

Yup, sounds like an optimus issue. Some things may have to be whitelisted, and some things can actually be told to run on the IGP and be fine.

Yes, lets benchmark this beast. Any suggestions for free reliable benchmarking software?

The last gaming rig I had ran 2 Voodoo cards so bear with me. (Hey they were good cards in the day!)

Oh forgot to say I whitelisted Steam, still not displaying much graphical potential. This cant be right, time to do some research.

Also, MSI Afterburner is nice and slick. Like it.

Everyone likes 3dMark06 and 3dmark vantage. But when you bench leave all the settings where they are. If not you can inflate your score like some have on here. So far highest 3dmark06 is 10063 some are boasting higher but they lower the res on the test which will jump the score about 1k points. Also I forgot 3dmark11 is great too.

I got mine a few days ago, but I think its kind of gimp in the temperature department from what I've been reading.
Either furmark or prime95 are pretty decent on their own, but if I run both at the same time the temps kinda scare me. (cpu going over 85 and throttling, gpu hitting like 91)

Im on it. Also, I cant believe i forgot this but at the moment im only running 4 gig of RAM. Crucial sent one wrong stick so im waiting for its replacement to arrive.

I overclocked it to 800/1050 and got 9700 in 3DMark 06. Cant remember what the temp was. Ill get a bit more scientific once I get over the 'Ive got an Alienware and it totally rocks' stage.

That and figure out how to actually use the damn thing properly.

your not that far from what most are getting with 3dmark06 it seems like the 9800 barrier is whats stoping most people.

Im going to buy a 256gig SSD on payday, and jam the 320 into a external caddy, buy a usb DVD drive, then sit back and enjoy!!

Sorry if im waffling on but I cant wait to get GTA IV cracking on this. I look forward to frequenting this forum, learning all the tricks.

Hey, I want to bring back up my temperature thing instead of making a new thread. Like I said I'm also a new owner of an i7 r3... for the most part my temps are fine but they borderline too much on obsurd load
furmark/prime95 torture test at the same time

Even furmark alone does a number on the gpu. Can people with the same specs run a furmark burn test at native res 2x aa for quite a while and see what they top out at? Or if they have before let me know what you got?

thanks- trying to figure out if i should do anything/what i should do about this.

Ill get on it after I get home from work if you want, Ive got an R3 i7, but only 4 gig of ram at the mo tho.

Nope it shouldn't hurt it unless there is something very wrong with it :)
From my testing it seems my gpu is the heat culprit..
On its own the cpu temps are fine. Prime95 brings it in the 70's
but furmark on the gpu can get it to hit like 88.

Both at the same time, they heat eachother up, bringing the cpu to the upper 80's, and the gpu to 90-92.

    I'm running furmark 1.9.1 1366x768 2xaa BURN-IN test
prime95 In-Place large FFTs test (max heat etc)

Takes quite a while for the temps to top out, maybe 20 minutes will cover it..

Just standard is fine, I've overclocked mine to 751/1502 948, but it really only makes like a 1c difference in max temp for me.

Running both programs at your suggested serttings:

    Max gpu 96.

Max processor 88 (Although I forgot to log so checked immediately after)

Cant be good for it :(

and yeah those numbers scare me too.

Ambient temperature would be a factor as well.. wonder if anyone else has insight about this, or can point somewhere. I tried searching about it but its hard to tell.

The CPU and GPU are rated up until 105c and they will shut down. I wouldnt worry about it to be honest. Truth is, you wont be stressing you CPU or GPU like that usually playing games. You still have some room to work with. If it really concerns you, just buy a lapdesk with a fan and use that when you game intensively.

Yeah, Crysis/Crysis 2 generally only bring mine to 80/80ish temps, and I don't think many games will bring it hotter than that

No it really shouldn't get higher than that. I play BC2 online and it reaches 78CPU and 82 GPU, and thats the hottest it gets. And BC2 pushes the CPU pretty bad.

Installed GTA IV and it benchmarkss at 38fps average at maxxed out settings. Im happy with that to be honest. GPU temp dosent get above 60.
