So I've had the blue screen of death appear a couple of times over the past week. There isn't enough time for me to read what is going on but I did catch a few things. If anyone has a clue as to what I can do feel free to give your 2 cents!

It says there may be a problem with new hardware (unlikely) or new drivers (haven't changed my nvidia drivers in awhile).

It recommends that I turn off caching and shadowing in the BIOS, which I have looked for but can't find.

And that's about it I can remember.
This pops up after I get windows to start.

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 4105

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 50
    BCP1: FFFFE48034644C00
    BCP2: 0000000000000001
    BCP3: FFFFF880042D8320
    BCP4: 0000000000000007
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 768_1

Also, when I tried to start windows normally (from the list that says start in safemode/safemode with networking/normally) the screen froze and had weird horizontal lines everywhere, which I assume has something to do with the graphics card/integrated graphics (possible overheating?). It started up fine after that.

I was thinking I could install the new bios and see if that helps but other than that I'm lost.

    I'm have the i7 model with 6gb of ram and 540m (296.10).

P.S. My warranty ran out about 2 weeks ago and I didn't have 400 bucks to shell out for another year of coverage..

When was the last time you gave it a good clean? Blow out dust from hsf, may need to re-paste hsf on CPU/GPU.

Monitor temps? HWmon/CoreTemp. Is there enough clearance for the fan intake? Cooling pad?

Finally if all else fails try a re-install of W7.

    Try another HDD?

I am sure others may have a better solution.

    Regards.

    C.

    ram issue? Try moving/removing/testing.

The first part of the error is generic or at least difficult to pin down. Was there a dump file?
