Hey, I will soon be buying a M11X R2 with these specs

    Intel i5-520UM (1.06Ghz)
    4GB 800MHZ DDR3 Memory
    1GB GT335M

One thing that I don't understand is the really low Ghz on the CPU, how can such a small amount support the latest games?

The two reasons I'm buying a laptop are lectures and skyrim, do you guys think the M11X R2 is up for the job?

Also final question, will I see a framerate drop if I connect the laptop up to my 32" TV to play games?

    Thanks for the help

Don't be fooled by the 1.06GHz rating of the Intel i5. The turboboost feature lets it speed up to 1.86GHz when needed. With overclocking and ThrottleStop enabled, you can get speeds around 2GHz.

I play Skyrim on my M11x R2 with the same specs as what you're getting. The gameplay is smooth and great in my opinion at high settings. I do have mine overclocked at the BIOS at 162MHz (yielding about 2GHz CPU speed) and ThrottleStop at 30/30 setting. Before I had ThrottleStop, I would just run the game on medium setting.

If you connect to an external TV that may let you go higher resolutions than the stock resolution setting of 1366 x 768 (i.e. 1600x900, 1920x1080, etc.), you will notice some frame drops depending on the game being played.

Are your Skyrim settings default high?
