If I go with a cooling mat to keep it cooler I'll probably go with a custom build mat. The reason why is the smaller mats that are close to the size of the m11x have very weak fans and don't move much air, and I wouldn't want a larger one as it eliminates the portability with it. There are a few guides on here for building your own if you decide you want to try. Even just elevating the back an inch or so will help lower your temps by 3-5 degrees ;)

I use a Targus pad myself, with dual usb-powered fans. I think you can find them at Wal-Mart and Best Buy etc. It's a little big for the m11x, but I like it. The fan seems to fit right where the vents are on the bottom of the laptop and you can move the little rubber grommets around to suit how you want to rest it on the pad.

It's a little pricey, but I'm betting resellers will have some massive Black Friday deals on stuff like this.

    Cooler Master Notepal U1.

Fits the M11x perfectly. The fan on the bottom is adjustable. Myself and many others on this site use it and I have yet to hear anything but positive remarks.

    $14.49 at Amazon.com
    $16.99 at Newegg.com

For Europe, it is £14.26 at Amazon.co.uk

What about the x-lite? I'm torn between the two.. Also is there a reason to get the U1 instead of the U2? Other than price of course..

had a look around and i think the difference is the U1 is smaller (for 14' or smaller laptops) and comes with only 1 fan while the u2 is bigger (14'-17') and comes with 2 fans. i think im going to go with the U1 - looks great. the x-lite (contrary to its name) looks quite bulky and heavy compared to the U series and im more looking for a light "no worries" type mat. also i like that the fans are not built in on the U series.

Thanks for the suggestion whiplash and every1 else

Edit: Just bought it from ebay - $28 AU :)
