Hi there, I've had this keyboard and Mx518 mouse for years now. When I tried to plug the g15 into the R3 it works fine, until i plug the mouse into the keyboard and it tells me I don't have enough power. The keyboard works but the mouse wont. This combo has worked fine on my desktop just for some reason not on the R3.

Any Idea's as to why this is?

    Thanks

Sounds like a power problem and that there isn't enough power going to the R3's port. IS there a difference in the USB ports you're using from desktop to laptop like say 3.0 vs 2.0?

possibly find a Y split, to use power from 2 usb ports, though i don't see why it wouldn't be enough power as typically mouse and a keyboard use close to no power... basically you'd use 2 usb ports on your laptop, 1 for data and power and second one just for the extra power, old 2.5" HDDs would get a Y cable for the extra juice as the damn things wouldn't work without the extra juice.

No, desktop is 4 years old, before 3.0 was even out. Ive tried all the ports in the laptop with the same result. I wonder why that is.

I would suggest getting yourself a USB hub and then you should be ok.

I have had similar problems with the G15 keyboard where it was not providing enough power to my headset and that caused unpredictable results.

USB Power Adapter Y Extension Cable on eBay!

just get one of these... Not all USB controllers USB 2.0 or 3.0 provide same amount of power... No one actually provide specs of them either, it is supposed to provide 500mA i believe, however some provide more and some less... Heard of new controllers that will be USB 3.0 and provide 1A from usb to charge your lovely gadgets, however it will likely take some research to find hardware containing it.

I don't think laptops, or at least the m11x can provide enough power from one usb port to power the keyboard with lights etc as well as another device attached to it. I never tried my G15 but I have a CM Storm Trigger and if I try to plug it into my laptop then plug my G5 mouse into it, the mouse will not work or sometimes the keyboard will power down as well. I also know charging my phone via my laptop usb vs my desktop usb is a lot slower. The laptop is only really good enough to keep the phone from dying if I'm listening to it. The usb ports just aren't powerful enough imo.

IT does seem like a power consumption problem. The 11x power supply is small and may not be able to supply enough power to that keybrd. :(

The keyboards themselves work fine, just the added functionailty of it being a USB hub don't seem to work on the m11x not having enough power to power the keyboard, then additional device/s through it. If you plug the mouse into one of the other actual USB ports on the keyboard it works fine, just means you can't save those extra "real" ports :p.
