I installed Ubuntu 10.10. Sound and video worked without installing drivers. About the video - not sure which of the cards. For AlienFX there is an alternative to JAVA, it works fine.

Have tried ubuntu 10.04 on mine. It uses the nvidia gpu for around 2 1/2 hr battery life. You can use alienfxlite for the light controls.

Oh okay. Is there a way to switch between integrated and dedicated?

I think you are stuck with the dedicated one enabled, but you can't even use it. I couldn't get nvidia drivers to install.

I had Ubuntu 10.04 on also, no way to switch or engage Optimus last time I checked into it about a month ago. Currently just uses Nvidia card and battery life is poor, there is quite a lot of info on getting the various parts up and running.
