Well somethings wrong with my hinge, and I need to take the bit off thats circled in the picture. 54455.jpg

Ive looked through tear downs ect to see if there is any manuals and stuff on how to take it apart and there isn't any. Is there any way to open it?

Also, I gave dell a call and I'm getting a service to replace the palm rest and hinge cover for free. I know this wont fix it but I do need a new palm rest as I smashed one of the front neon vents so I don't want to mention anything plus is costs $110 to replace it :p

so what will happen when they replace these two things and it doesn't work? will they try and fix it or what

Have the Dell guy do it... if he breaks it, he fixes it. :)

you cannot take that part off. The LCD is sealed, the Dell tech will replace the entire LCD assembly.

One of the reason LCD is sealed is to avoid dust particles between plastic front and the LCD. People have had their LCD replaced because of dust infiltration.
