I have a R2 that just got its LCD replaced 20 minutes ago. The new LCD the technician replaced looked like it had exactly the same hinges as the old.. I thought they fixed this issue recently?? Is there a difference???

also.. is there a way to find the part number of my lcd? This new LCD is . worse then my old.. when i close my screen its completely crooked and the back doesn't even fit now..

I know these are the new and old part numbers:

    * Soft Black WWAN LCD Assembly (Old part YYYV5, New part 8JJT2)

    * Soft Black WLAN LCD Assembly (Old part GNJW3, New part 40GMX)

    * Black WWAN LCD Assembly (Old part VT7K8, New part R2Y7G)

    * Black WLAN LCD Assembly (Old part 757TW, New part 4FFHC)

    * Gray WWAN LCD Assembly (Old part 6CVDV, New part KKH9C)

    * Gray WLAN LCD Assembly (Old part PKYWD, New part YMM9R)

I cant view your pictures because they are blocked at my work, but...

The new hinges look very much like the old on the outside. When you open up the screen thats where you see the changes. Instead of having only a few screws holding the hinge to the plastic mounts it has about 10 screws holding the hinge to the lcd. About half of the bottom of the lcd is covered with screws and hinge reinforcments.

    thanks for the info..

just got a phone call from the technician getting mad at me.. he said that "dont you realize i have to go all the way back out to your place to fix this. i dont want to do that.. also its not my fault." i told him i live in central london, im sure im not far from anything. also, i wasn't blaming you, i was blaming assembly of the LCD. not the installation..

then he wanted me to phone dell and tell dell that is not his fault.. but mine.. i didn't do anything, but just look at it...

    geeeezzzz.

Dell technicians get paid a flat rate per call out, so i don't see why he's complaining... He gets to collect 2 fees instead of 1.

If he contacted Dell first and complained to them that the installation was bad then maybe, but if he contacted the technician first he would have contacted Dell himself and told them the job requires a 2nd call out because the assembly was faulty.
