Anyone have this problem? :
The middle of the keyboard on this m11x droops down a little.
So all the keys are not leveled.
Should I have dell replace the keyboard ?
PS: A tech fixed the power button placement issue. But the leds are probably dead on the left on the button, it only lights up from the right side.
As for the paper test fail, tech came with replacement screen but it was glosssy black...
Mine is silver (lunar shadow)

It is very unique for that not to happen. It only screws down in the middle of it on the right side, so that side is lower than the left side where it doesn't screw down. A replacement won't fix it.

^Yeah, that's about where the one screw is. (Well, there are two more up like where the Alienware head is.)
-
This is just retarded. Its getting worse as I type this...
What if the screw is taken out?? Would the keyboard fall out ? -
Mine is exactly the same. Goes down right at g/h. Wish the whole keyboard was as low so the screen touching would go away. I only get a little smudging on the left hand side though.

same with my keyboard, eh i'll just live with it.

Mine is exactly the same as OP and as others have said, we are in the majority. My screen touches the keyboard when closed and my hinges are misaligned. No issues yet, but it's a matter of time. There is an entire thread based on these issues:

Have a good read. -
I am pretty sure my hinges are ok. The screen only touches when I hold it or put it in my book bag. Never when I just close it, even though I failed the paper test.

Hi All,
I just got my m11x yesterday. I'm loving it so far, but my keyboard drops down at the G and H keys too.
It looks a little funny. I'm wondering if this is something to report to dell about.
If it is just the screws underneath, then I can live with it. It does not affect my typing in any way.

G and H should be very well supported. WES is the area that has some flex to it due to their not being any support beneath it.
-
Overall, I am really liking the feel of the keyboard.

Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to describe about your G and H keys. Are they misaligned? Do they have a deeper stroke than the other keys?
-
There is a slight droop in the keyboard at the GHY keys. If you look at the keyboard straight on, you will see it droop down slightly around GHY and then come back up. It's as if someone pressed really hard in the middle and it didn't come back up.
Imagine looking down a really long flat road and seeing it dip in the distance and then come back up to level.
I could post some pics when I get back home from work.
I am assuming this is also what the OP was talking about. He or she said it was getting worse; that's starting to worry me a bit. I've only had the machine one day.

Is the center of the keyboard (TYGH) lower than the right side (P[;')? The left side (WESD area) is generally the area that's reported to be raised by owners here.
I can sight down the length of my keyboard and see that it's generally uniformly flat until about the R and F keys through to the Q and A keys. That areas is ever so slightly raised. Enough to where that area contacts the screen consistently.
On a slightly related note, I'm working at a huge design studio today and virtually every shiny new 17" MBP has oil marks on it's screen. That's because of the additional flex that the 17" lid has. Some of the 15" and 13" models do too. At least I know my 13" MBP isn't unique in that regard.
Lot's of people stopping by to ask about my M11x. -
If I sight down the length of my keyboard it's level until about the R and F keys and then it dips down and comes back up to level at I and K keys. The right and left side of the keyboard are at the same height and the center at GH is lower than everything else. -
i have just received my m11x and i have the same problem, keys drop at the gh keys, wonder if its a ergenomic thing? all the keys work fine just a bit wierd to look at as it looks like it's broken in the middle.
-
It's normal - not an ergos thing, just a facet of design (some would call it a flaw). It doesn't affect the operation of the machine or the keyboard, and realistically you're only noticing it because you use the machine a lot and you want it (as we all do) to be perfect. Don't let it bug you.
-
I didn't notice the flex under the WES keys or that G and H were a little lower until I read this thread.

This is so funny! My first thought when I noticed this on my keyboard was...because mine is a refurb I though maybe the first owner got mad and slammed a fist down on the keyboard after the system broke, which is maybe why they sent it back to dell and it ended up being a refurb. Glad to here this dip is normal and not from someones angry fist.

LOL. My key board is a little wavy I thought about getting a little alien surfer decal and putting in the space near the power button and set the keyboard lights to deep blue!!!
