So I shipped out my m11x around a week and a half ago to a dell warehouse to have the hinges replaced.

Is there anyway of checking that the hinges were actually replaced or what? Like to me it just feels a bit looser than before, but then again, what do i know right?

Also the checklist they gave me said they only replaced the LCD panel, was this what they told you guys as well?

Just having some doubts, thats all. Sorry to bother x-x

I would have demanded a technician to come out and replace the screen/get the dust out from under it.

had the same issue and had to send it to them because the tech did that to mine, they are really sloppy, I dont trust their techs or their depot at all.

having taken apart my m11x (ICD7 TIM on CPU/GPU) and also seen a tech do it (mobo replacement; GPU fail), the hinges are an integral part of the LCD display.

Replacing the hinges with the updated design equates to a full replacement of the LCD display/panel.

What i dont understand is why there is dust underneath the LCD bezel as one does not need to dismantle the actual LCD panel/display itself in the first place when doing a hinge replacement job (it's a simple case of removing some screws and lifting off the entire LCD panel + hinges and replacing with the new one).

Only when installing an extra antenna for wifi cards like the Bgifoot 1103 does the need for LCD panel disassembly become a necessity.

My guess is that units that were swapped out are cannabalized and the LCD's are mated to new hinge assemblies, and those are used for future replacements. I would guess that this is done in an area that doesn't have the same air-purity standards as the production line, hence the dust. Just my theory though.

sorry to bother again but, i just noticed this...

well going back to the dust, they said ( and Im really starting to see why people hate on dell tech support....) That I had to send in my m11x back to them to replace the bezel with the dust..I told them it, im not sending it back for another 2 weeks just so you can send it back with the same things over..

Now back to the main point, I just noticed now that that one of the hinge CASING isnt fully tight, like there is a miniscule gap, where you if press it, you can feel/hear a tiny click shutting ( only under some pressure ). When you let go, it goes back to what it was.

now I still have, I think like 12-13 days to send in my beloved baby back to those wretched people at this warehouse in butt freak eygpt (yes I am now angry/annoyed)

Is this cause for a concern?

Send it back. And tell them your going to keep sending back until they get it right. dust under the screen is not acceptable. You bought it as new and that's what you expect.

It takes about two weeks to get it back from them, I dont know if its worth it..

I want know if the hinge case clicking sound is a major concern for me to send, I already got them to fix my hinges ( the paper said they didnt replace the cover ) so I dont know if they messed up the covers in the process.

Is there anyway I can get them to send a technician for this kind of faulty job?

edit - its a slight clicking, not one that makes a really big sound. slight pressure on the the hinge casing will make the small clicking

wow, i am sorry dude. I honestly dont like dell anymore, if this m11x blows up or something, im just going to stick to an ASUS. But hey you got an r3 for your troubles, a massive improvement from the r1.

Did you have warranty at the time during all of that?

After arguing with the reps saying that even though im out of warranty that I should still send it in for another 2 weeks to still get the same shotty service, they agreed to send a technician over.

I just hope these covers wont click and the bezel wont have anymore dust this time.

Just quick question to you guys, how are the onsite dell techs? Do they know what they are doing or what?
