Just got my refurbished unit today and i am very pleased. i picked up a r1 with accidental damage warranty, 250gb 7200rpm hdd, 2gb ram for $620. I'm a sucker for extra protection :p I will be ordering 8gb of ram from Newegg this week and have followed all the tweak guides posted.

My only question is how do I update the 1394 drivers? I used the one on the Dell support site and it still tries to update the drivers upon start up. Any suggestions?

Could always disable firewire (IEEE 1394) in BIOS unless you plan to use it.
It's then one less device for the system to scan and maintain. :)

I currently have JMicron OHCI IEEE 1394 Version 6.1.7600.16385 installed.

Do you even use Firewire? If not, disable it in the BIOS.

I haven't touched Firewire in 6 years. I plan to keep it that way. It is a dead standard.
