Just Ordered m11X What to do...

I ordered the m11x last night and today I read about all of these hinge issues. The m11x seems just about perfect in every way. I went to cancel my order until the hinge deal gets all sorted out and now my order is in production. What to do now? Am I going to be charged a 15% restocking fee if I return after I receive it? What would you do?

Is this problem that widely spread? Is there any way of getting a "good" one? Is it feasible that Dell will be able to fix this?

    Thanks in advance

The thing with these issues is you're hearing mostly from the vocal minority.

I've never had any sort of hinge issue with my M11x.

LOL - I'm sorry, but this whole thing about the hinge gets a little old. Yes, there are many who are having issues - this forum is a support forum, you are going to see posts like this. There are also some who have no problem with this system (reference: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/533431-happy-owners-reviews-change-please.html)).

As for what you should do, I suggest contacting Sales and talking with them about your options. Many have been able to cancel an order before it ships, others have not had luck doing so. Its something you just have to address on your own with Customer Service. Results will vary.

I'm not trying to be insensitive about your concerns... there are threads on the hinge issue and you can always talk about this there.

Best of luck with the order cancellation if you decide to go that route.

EDIT: Thread re-opened in case you want to discuss the CS side of your post. Hinge related chat though, please use the hinge thread.

    Thanks.

About the restocking fee. My understanding is that even in the case you receive laptop but do NOT open it, you will NOT be charged restocking fee. (You may have to pay the shipping back, though?) I canceled the first m11x I ordered that was in production, btw, and wasn't charged anything.

In my case, I was told you have 21 days or 30 days from the invoice date depending on the Rep to return your Laptop at no cost to you. Dell will send you a shipping label too.I returned my first M17X, it had the 4870 CF right when the 5870 CF came out, Dell let me send it back opened or unopened no questions asked.

I think its a very relevant topic, there's nothing old about it. People need to know before they spend there money that the m11x is a defective unit to begin with, you can just look at the way its designed and know that those hinges arn't made properly.

If this was the first time this has happened to alienware then I could understand but there was already a past model the m15x that had this exact same problem. Total lack of quality control to let this slip for a second time. I realize things like this can happen and sympathsize with situations like this also so either way the buyer must know about something like this.

You are 100% correct jeffrey and that is why we have two dedicated threads where this is being discussed. The OP is already well aware of the feedback left in those threads as he has seen it. If he, or anyone else wishes to discuss it, then use those threads. His concern was responded to by two other members and he was referred to not just the hinge threads but also a 'happy owners thread'...

Again, you want to talk about hinge - go to the hinge thread.

BTW, how's your 11x doing these days? Did you end up returning it?

    Thanks.
