Right now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will become a good journey. Right now it's kind of unwarranted mess however.

Alright. So I purchased it in mid-April. Received it, I believe, late April. Amazing when it works right. Let's get into the problems I have had.

A couple weeks ago, it stopped reading my battery. Oh, it would still run on battery life, it just would not charge. Called customer support. Thankfully, quick fix. All I had to do was remove and re-attach my battery.

That's not the bad part though.

My left hinge cracked yesterday. A little bit after the battery issue, not sure how many days, the left hinge would pop out a little bit. Squeak when I open the laptop and all. No big deal. Well, it cracked yesterday. It's a-okay if I leave my laptop open, but when I go to close it, I hear a couple of sharp CRACK noises. Sure enough, a nice gap in my hinge. I called customer support.

They sent out a new screen to replace mine with. It was going to be replaced today - the day after an error? Doesn't seem to bad. The tech unpacks the screen - gouges on it.

Oh, heck no. This computer is two months old - I am NOT having it looking archaic because of what is basically a faulty hinge design. So I called up Alienware support again. And they're supposed to be sending a new or as-new screen with no scratches. This means I have to wait until Tuesday, mind you.

We'll see what condition this new screen is in when it arrives. I did not spend one and a half thousand dollars to have this go wrong in two months and have them send faulty parts to fix it with.

    Keeping my fingers crossed!

Xalgon - What type of travel or whatever do you do to put stress on the hinge? I dont travel much with mine except to maybe a starbucks. For this I utilize the expensive alienware backpack "orion". Which leads me to my next question.. what are you carrying your notebook around in?

    Best Wishes,

    StevenX

Hahaha, well, lately, the travel has been...from this desk to the restroom with me. That's it. There really should be no stress on the hinge, because nothing was really pressing down on it.

When I do travel with it, I use a init laptop bag. Gets the job done.

But yeah, the hinge thing happened with the most travel being inter-house travel.

Wow your hinge must be really bad, I traveld a couple of times with it on my bike, in a shoulder bag. Don't really know how to explain it, but my bag rests on the back of my bike, and the the hinge points down. Ofcourse I lift the bag up when I'm driving over a bump or on a irregular surface, but it's still fine.

Heh, mine was okay. And it's gone through two plane trips alright, before it started acting up. If the screen gets replaced okay, I'll be pretty happy. I really do want to like this machine.
