So I want to upgrade my RAM in my m11x R1. I have two slots with two 2gbs were, but when I put in two 4gbs my computer starts up with only a black screen.

    The 4gb RAM i'm using are 4GB DDR3-1065 SODIMM

what do you mean by black screen? does it go past bios checks?

most likely one of the sticks is faulty, try starting with one of them inside a slot at a time see if any single bone works.

can also try running diagnostics (hit f12 to select boot device, diagnostics is in the list, mighty useful feature alienware added as i keep "misplacing" my hiren's boot flash drive)
