    Isometric RPG's

    I have bunch of old Isometric RPG's from GOG (Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate, etc.) that I plan on putting on my M11x R3.

    Obviously the integrated graphics card should handle them just fine.

    Has anyone already done this? Did you have any problems? Does it letterbox the graphics, so that there's a 1024x768 play area in the center with black bars on either side? I assume that will look a lot better than if things are stretched, so if it doesn't do that by default is there a setting I need to toggle?

    For the infinity engine's games (Baldur's Gate, Torment, Icewind Dale, etc.) there's a widescreen mod: G3: Widescreen Mod

    You can play them without problems :)

    how do they run in windows 7? I mean, are there compatability issues? I was thinking of perhaps playing through planescape torment, as I never got very far in it years ago. But I was a bit worried if it would be able to properly function in a 64 bit environment.

    I played Diablo II for hours on my M11x R2 using the integrated graphics. It's awesome.

    The only problem is these games often don't support widescreen resolutions, so you'll be stuck playing in 1024x768 ... or 800x600 in Diablo's case.

    i hate how 4:3 games look warped on a 16:9 screen and what is lame is that the drivers don't auto scale 4:3 on the fly....grrr....

    Yeah it really does suck. Mine has an option to stretch the image and fill the entire screen, but ultimately you're left with a distorted image that isn't all that pleasant to look at.

    Zenstrata - I had no trouble getting Planescape:Torment to run on a different Win7 laptop. I'll let you know how it looks once I get it running on the M11x.

    GOG installers usually work really well. I'm a big fan.

    If you're serious about playing those games, I would suggest looking into buying them off of Good Old Games (gog.com).

    They are full copies of the game with all add-ins, DRM-free, and come packaged in a pre-configured DOSBox environment for full graphics and sound compatibility with Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit.

    You may shun the idea of "re-buying" a game that you already own. But I consider the $10 price tag to be well worth it... especially considering that my time isn't free, and that it would cost me far more than $10 worth of time if I were to configure and tweak DOSBox myself.
