I recently bought a m11x as my main machine. I have a desktop that is a few years old now but it still games like it's new. Anyway I let the fiance use that because her last machine was terrible so this became my main machine. Just curious, does anyone else use their as their main machine?
Side note: I just happen to like small machines, don't know why. I did think about sending it back for the m15. But I think I am pretty happy with this little guy.

I use, and it is flawless!
-
Got rid of my 17" HP laptop and Dell desktop, now my R1 is my main machine and I love it!! Of course had a few problems here and there but for as portable as it is and for gaming along with battery life.. why would I want anything different!! I LOVE IT!!

-
my m11x is my main machine and it serves me well =p
-
to some extent, it's my main machine. I have an i7 860s + GTX570 at home, but almost never get to use it
-
R1 for general use and an R2 for heavier gaming. I love these laptops.
-
It's my primary notebook at work and at home - easily 10 hours/day of use M - F. My MBP only gets a few hours a week of use anymore. Still using my gaming rig for serious gaming though.
-
Yeah this is my main machine as well. I'm having my desktop rebuilt atm and really the only use it will get is BF3.
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
It will be once it gets here, which should be Friday.
-
my M11x is purely for games and other media. i have a desktop that does the brunt of the work.
-
Still using my P4 3.2Ghz 3GB RAM with ATI 3850 AGP GPU.
Crap CPU, but with two U2410 monitors attached one doesn't grumble.
With 10 monitor ports via the 2 monitors and a USB switch, plugging an M11x into the mix is easy. -
I have an OCed i7 950 with SLI 460s to play games/watch videos across 3x 24" monitors.
For on-the-go creativity, I use the x120e ~ the M11x is a tad too heavy to whip out and start working.
The M11x exists as an alternative between the desktop, and my ultraportable ~ when I need that extra horsepower, but would still like it to be semi-portable. -
This is the setup I use on my desk. My alienware is my primary PC, as I no longer use my old M9700 anymore. To the right I've got my Xbox which I use for netflix, DVDs, and several games.
I sometimes hook my M11x to the big LCD if I'm working on a college paper or browsing, but for the most part I just use the m11x's screen. It is perfectly sized for what I need.
-
My M11x is my main. I Use a dell mini 1018 with ubuntu when in my car or just need something even more portable. I end up using the m11x 95% of the time!

haha, not so much wardriving. Only a bit ;-) Anyways, Joe is a rare name in Norway, wardriving is not very known.
-
yea my R2 is my main machine. work and non-work related. have it on 10+ hours per day. during the weekends, I just ipad more, maybe some gaming on R2.
sure feels good pulling out my R2 in a conference room full of MBpro, MB airs.. -
Yep, its my main. I have a desktop that has a few programs that I don't really need to take up space on my M11x, so if I do need [that program, I'll use the desktop, but my M11x is much faster than my desktop and can play League of Legends, where my desktop can't. I love it!
-
Same here. Had a 17" HP and an Asus netbook, got rid of them both. Now my m11x is my only machine. Love it.
-
I've got a pretty beastly desktop I use for more competitive gaming and 3D work related stuff. Just about everything else is on the R2. However since most of my computer time is spent either competitive gaming or doing 3D work, I still wouldn't consider my R2 my main PC but I sure do love the little bugger.
-
m11xr2 is currently my main because my brother took my desktop and i work 10hr shift job, so its more portable then unplugging my desktop take to work each and everyday, although stil debating to buy a m15x to replace the m11.
-
My r2 is my main gaming machine as well. I'm very happy with what I get out of it.
-
Yea I am debating on getting a m11x and whichever laptop o get will be my main. So to see alot of people use it for mostly there stuff show that the little m11x is pretty good
-
Heavy internet use, a fair bit of Word/Excel, and light gaming. So, yes indeed, the M11X is my primary machine.
-
Its amazing <3
-
Not my main machine, replaced an HP mini 210. The hp mini didn't get much use, especially because I couldn't watch Hulu on it.
Lately, I stream Hulu in 1080p to my 42" tv with it, use it as a media hub for TV streaming for downloaded content, browse the internet, and watch TV in my bedroom.
I have a 1680x1050 res 23" LCD (old monitor) in my bedroom with a printer that I have sitting there so I can hook it up if I randomly decide to... I doubt I will often.
My desktop is super powerful & holds a GTX 460, so I usually game on that when I am home. -
I have ablsoutely no space for a big tower in my room, so I use the M11x as my main machine. If it only could utilize faster RAM...
-
I bought the M11x R2 to use as my primary gaming machine, but I was still using my old P4 desktop for all day-to-day computing and web browsing. A few months later, my desktop CPU died, so now the M11x is doing full-time duty until I build a new desktop later this year or next.
-
This machine is my main laptop. I can't afford to have another desktop computer so everything is pack to this laptop.
I definitely didn't regret changing my old 14" C2D compaq to this one -
Unfortunately, it's not my main machine. I wish it were - my desk would be a heck of a lot tidier. I have a MacBook Pro that's on almost all day every day for writing and work, and a massively overclocked Aurora that I use for doing my magazine reviews etc.
The M11x for me though holds a very special place in my heart in that when it gets slipped out of it's leather folio each night, that means I'm relaxing. It's just so much more convenient with a wife and baby in the house to be able to curl up on the couch and game. To that end, I also have the new wireless Logitech Trackball with tiny USB dongle that I use. This lets the M11X and I game anywhere, smooth surface for mousing or not. -
I sold my 4.2GHz Core i7 / Corsair H50 "HSF" / SLI GTX 480 / NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround (Samsung / 3x1680x1050) rig and bought both this M11x and Dell U3011. My objective? Game less, learn programming more.
I like my M11x, but I *really* miss that Core i7. I'd pay $2,000 (ie double) for an M11x with 2 lbs of copper cooling for a GT335m and one of the new Core i7 (non-ULV) mobile CPUs. I don't understand why Apple can make a thin laptop with a speedy Core i7 sustaining temperatures over 90°C (the latest MacBook) while Dell... chooses not to. Not that high temperatures are a good thing, but I'd take a hot lap over a weak processor if given the choice!
Don't worry Dell. I won't buy an Apple product as long as I live. But is asking for an Adamo-quality performance line really too much to ask? Is the market really that small?
Give me an M13x with Core i7 2635QM, GT335m (or modern NVIDIA rebadged equivalent), 4GB RAM, SATA 6Gbps (do I need to say this twice?), USB 3.0, 3x3 Wi-Fi antenna, and (FFS) Gigabit LAN. Oh, and that screen better 1600x900. Please, just give me the option to add a better display to the base config! And none of that 13" screen on a 15" chassis funny business, either. (I'm looking at my M11x)
I'm not asking for a ridiculous benchmarker's dream, I'm asking for the most that can be kicked in a 13" form factor for not much more than $2,000. Bring it, Dell! -
i want to build another custom PC, but this is my current machine. Outstanding computer with a few flaws which could be easily fixed!

Info in sig
It's my main machine, but mostly because I carry it around with me practically all day every day. At home I use the desktop unless I'm playing games- eventually when I put together my htpc that will probably be my main machine at home. -
Most used, but I still consider my desktop my main computer. Nothing confidential is handled on this computer.
-
hands down this little beast is as good or better than 85% of desktop computers out there lol (not including gamers)
I was planning on building a desktop right before I got this laptop but since I received this, I changed my mind.
This is my main machine and it does everything I need it to do. Games, 1080P movies, some Autocad here and there. -
I'm curious to see how many people use the M11x as their main computer since this thread was around before the R3 came out. I still use mine as my only computer.
-
I use my m11x mainly for uni work, when watching TV and gaming on the go. My PC - which requires an upgrade - is what I use most of the time at home. Although I've done a fair bit of travel over the last year odd, so the m11x sees more and more general use.
-
Still using my m11x as my main computer. Been working on building a verticle docking station for my r1 to make my desk a little less cluttered.
-
No. It has been my main machine off and on.
It easily COULD be my main machine though. -
Needed an option for sometimes . My other computer is a Watercooled tower . About 4 years old but it's still faster than My MX11. Most of my gaming is on the tower .
-
I answered yes, as I have been using this as my primary machine sine January. However, I just ordered an XPS 17 L702X to replace it.
-
YES it a truly BEAST!
-
Yea, it is my main machine
I changed my old Desktop (It was a piece of junk) for this little monster -
Use M11X R1 when I'm out visiting clients for work and travelling around although if I'm visiting somewhere where it might get damaged or need something ultra light use Asus Eee PC 901 (1.6Ghz, 2GB RAM, 16GB SSD).
At home use my tower (i7 920, 6GB RAM, Radeon HD4890) for main use with a Dell Inspiron (C2D 2.0, 2GB RAM) for my bedroom.
Maybe I have too many computers ! -
I use my m11x at work about 80 - 90% of the time, with my Macbook Pro being used when I'm doing color critical editing of video or photos. At home, the M11x is my netflix/Boxee HTPC. Gaming is 70/30 in favor of my gaming desktop.
So yeah, the m11x gets about 9 hours of solid use every single day. -
I use my M11x R1 at night in the living room watching TV and in bed and my Desktop during the day. My other 'netbooks' get used when and if required.
All my devices are modelled around a central Gigabit QNAP NAS, Linksys E4200 router backbone with remote range extender(s). My Android mobile uses my NAS too.
60% Desktop and 30% M11xR1 -
I want one of these but i dont know if i can convince myself i have a need for it. As i dont really do any travelling and have a xps 17 as my main machine. But if i did need to then im not lugging a 17" around.
Is your m11x your main machine?
